can i use the variable compression A/c compressor?

can i use the variable compression A/c compressor?

i need to know from somebody who knows or has tried it, whether or not the factory a/c compressor from my 6.0 will work in my 79 C10.

Should work ok. I`m using the LS compressor with my 85 el camino system and getting ready to use one on my brothers 78 buick. Might not be as efficient as the original system was, but it works.

did you have to notch the frame to fit it?

Yes it will work, question is how well. I have a LS1 compressor only in my 71 Chevelle AC System. it work ok. util i get in bumper to bumper and slow traffic.. then it only starts to blow cool air.. but everywhere else it's just find.. could be better.

Search for that artical to convert your compressor to fixed and it will work a bit better. Else it will be at about 60%.

yep a little notch. No biggie, didnt even have to break out the sawzall, just the cutoff wheel and welder lol

you could also look into kwikperformance's conversion kits to change the mount of the a/c

you'll need a bigg condensor... the r12 condensors are less efficient because r12 has a higher boiling point, r134 has a lower boiling point there for you will need to cool the freon more to keep it liquified in the condensor. other than that... a/c compressor is apple to apples... but i'm pretty sure they are not variable compressors its a clutch cycling system. i dont think gm uses wobble plate compressors on anything (maybe caddilac)... but if i'm wrong still wont matter.
