need more wiring help
need more wiring help Hey guys I need some more help. I am installing a 5.3l/4l60e into a 77 c10. Engine/trans/harness is out of a 03 tahoe with the red and blue connector. I need info on the water temp sensor and battery voltage.
#1) Water temp sensor- In the diagrams it shows a yellow and black wire going to the pcm. How do I plug into this to make it work on my instrument panel?
#2)- Battery voltage signal- The brown wire shows it also goes into the pcm. How do I plug into this to make it work on my instrument panel? I am using the factory fuse box and harness. If anyone has some info please help. Thanks alot.

If you're using the factory truck wiring, the voltmeter should work, without any changes, as far as the water temp, you'll need to put another sender in the motor, to run the factory gauge
Well, What I am needing to do is get the reading to my gauges. The factory alternator wire is going to the pcm. Where can I add the sender to the engine for the water temp?
That guage should work regardless of what alternator you have like was stated earlier. Do you know if your truck has an ammeter or a volt meter? I'm not sure what year they changed, but '77 is probably close to when they did. A volt meter will have 0 to 14v or something like that on the face, where as an ammeter will have charge-discharge, or c-d on the face. A voltmeter will work as long as it has voltage going to it.

I guess GM had to get rid of all the old stock of red blue PCM/wiring during the 03 model year. I have heard stories like this from how they built cars in the 50's and 60's, figured they had quit that practice by now. Should have know human nature is to squeeze every cent out of production process, and things like this will happen.

Re When using a 2 wire alt hookup, use the resistor if you are NOT using a charge light, only a gauge. The bulb acts as the resistor with the dummy light. Also the 12V switched source for the gauge "Pin L" must be separate from the alternator, coil circuit or your engine won't shut off.
