That McLeod setup is used for using a hydraulic setup transmission in a cable/quadrant car...

So my guess is its a GM 6 speed

Thanks. I will be doing that when I have the car painted. So it will be all nice and smooth under the hood.

It is a GM T56. I used the McLeod Bearing Retainer that is need to run the internal slave cylinder that they sell with the kit. It worked out great.

Do you have any pics of the set up at the trans? I was interested in using the same kit. How is shifter placement in car, any pics of that too?

I dont have any of the bearing retainer and slave cylinder. But I can get some of the shifter when I get home tonight. I have the shifter coming up right about the stock location.

Also in for updates. And do you have any more pictures of the headers? I just got mine in and was trying them out on a mock up motor, having a hell of the time with the drivers side and the steering shaft from the fire wall. I took the shaft from rack to that out.

I'm planning on buying that same McLeod kit, bu haven't heard about that bearing retainer... so this is something you have to buy in addition to the kit?

Sorry I dont have any close up pics. It would be next week before I can get any. We used a 3" PYPES universal Xpipe kit and band clamps to connect to headers and flowtubes. Makes for easy removal. I can have the Xpipe and tranny out in 25 minutes.

The McLeod setup is working great. Had a time getting it set up. But once we got it set up it's great. Pedal effort is easier then a stock setup.

Did you get the revised driver side header? I had to send my driver side header to Dynatech and they sent me the revised header for steering shaft clearance. I will see if I can get a better pic. Mine fell right in place and worked perfect.

Yeah I had to order it separate from the kit. When I ordered the McLeod set up I asked them if the internal slave cylinder they sold with the mustang swap kit would work with the T56 and they said it would but I would need to use the steel bearing retainer for it to work. Part number 8-110 from McLeod, I think it was 180$ or so.

Pretty cool swap. How do most Ford guys feel when they see your LS1?

Yes it is the revised one. I think I got it to work now, just need steering shaft to be a little longer. What shaft did you end up going with? I think I am going to fab up my own, I just cut the rag joint off and plan on using a smaller ujoint. I had to push the column back in the firewall pretty far for everything to clear.

The only reason I ask is because most rotary Mazda guys get all bent out of shape when you swap out the boat anchor for an LSX. It seems like some Ford guysah act the same.

Thanks SO much for that info!

So, in addition to the $580 hydraulic conversion, kit, I need the $215 throwout bearing retainer as well... wow, this is getting pricey!

Super clean swap man. I noticed that Mcleod sells a kit that comes with the GM quick disconnect fitting to use with the factory GM T56 release bearing. Any reason you went with Mcleods bearing instead? I figured it would be cheaper and work just as well with the stock bearing.

Great info in this post. Any updates on the McLeod clutch system? I'm about to drop my ls1 in my notch.
