1973 RS Camaro LSX Swap
I did some research after posting to your thread. I found that a 2005 GTO water pump looks like the one you used. I went tonight and bought it from Advance Auto for $122. Not a bad deal for a brand new water pump. I measured the distance from the mount to the pulley on my truck pump and the GTO is a little shorter. Not by much. I may end up milling out me some 1/2" spacers using my gaskets as a guide. I appreciate the fast response and wish you luck on your project.
Thanks......I'm glad I stipped mine now that they're done....LOL. I got my deer last Tuesday, so after a short break from the car for hunting and Christmas, I got back on it today. All I really did was sand blasted the rest of the drivers door so now it's just about ready for primer. But, I still have to finish blasting the hinges, mirror, and associated door hardware before I spray primer again. It MAY happen tomorrow if everything cooperates, but time will tell. Nothing too exciting happened today so I didn't take any pics, but it wouldn't be a good update without a picture of something, so here's a picture of my little desert (couse) deer I shot. I''ve always been more of a meat hunter than a trophy hunter (ie. I shoot the first legal thing that presents me with a shot!)

I got the drivers door finished today. The weather was just barely warm enough to paint outside. The pics are all in the garage, but the painting was done in the driveway like last time.

I also called the chassis shop today and set a tentative time of mid-February to have the six point installed in the car. That timeframe is dependant on a few things though, to include getting the trunk dividers built and available funds.

Happy New Year everyone. I got a few things done on the car today. First I got the drivers side door hung back on the car. It still needs some adjustment, but at least it’s back on the car where it belongs.

But the real accomplishment was getting my trunk divider firewall pieces built. I was real happy with how these turned out, considering I had never done anything like this before and was kinda dreading getting it done. I had already built the templates out of cardboard, so today I just needed to trace them out on a 24 gauge galvanized sheet I bought yesterday and cut them out. I decided to tackle this in two separate pieces; one inside the trunk to block the rear seat area and a second piece on top of the package tray area to block off the speaker holes and other openings up top. Here’s a picture of what I built to go inside the trunk…….

And here is how it fits inside the trunk……

For now it’s just sheet metal screwed in place but I’m also going to seal it off with fire-proof caulk. Once it’s sealed, I’ll redo the spatter paint in the trunk, to include the new sheet metal so it doesn’t stand out so much. Here’s a few shots of the upper piece. The two tabs sticking out in the first picture were later bent down and used to sheet metal screw this piece into place. This top piece will also get sealed with fire proof caulk, but not until the six-point roll bar is installed. I want the chassis shop to be able to take this piece in and out to make it easier to cut it for the rear bars to pass through it. Once the roll bar is done and this piece is sealed, it will get covered with either black carpet or vinyl for a somewhat factory appearance.

I just went through the whole build. Looks good. Does it still have the 8.5 10 bolt that you put in it on the first page? That rearend can be built to handle a good amount of power with good axles, gear and spool or locker it is almost the same as a 12 bolt. It has the same diameter pinion, just a ring gear that is a touch smaller. Anyways, I look forward to seeing more progress.

That's true. Mine was a posi rear out of a 77 z28 so I built it. What tire and wheel size are you going with in the rear? A 15x10 with 5.5 bs fits perfect in these cars. I had that on mine with 28x12.50 et streets years ago.
By the way, I checked out the link in your sig to your Camaro Performer's article. The car looks great!
Thanks man. The 12.50 et street measures 10" across the tread. It has a 12.50 section width. This tire is perfect on the 10" wheel. If it was a et drag then I would get the 10" wide because they measure them differently. I will see if I have some pics of them on my car when I get back to my computer. I am on the I phone now.
I to hunt to fill the ice box! So, The same size wheels that will go on your car will fit mine, right? I want to run the widest tire on the rear as I can, with out cutting the car 1981 TTA. A 15x10 with 5.5bs?
Amen brother! Heck, I probably wouldn't even hunt them if they weren't so damn tasty!
Yeah, like Cam72aro said, the same size rear wheel will fit any 2nd Gen F-body and everything I've ever read says our cars seem to like a 5.5bs on a 10inch wheel and/or a 4.5bs on an 8inch wheel. Some guys get away with slight variations these seem to be best. I wasn't aware of just how much tire would work though, until Cam72aro pointed out that a 12.50 ET street would fit.

Glad to see you got some ink on your ride.
