HELP! Dynatech headers burning plug wire
#41
Yes just two. #5 and #7 cylinder is all thats needed. Yes just pull the stock straight boots off and put new on. I even cut the old crimped part off, stripped the wire and still was plenty long.

Hey so I was late to get the memo on this one. I know this thread is rather old but I have Dynatech headers and the shorted out my two rear plug and wires closest to the steering box. I used these wires http://www.summitracing.com/parts/tay-98003/overview/
and was curious if using different wires will hurt my car and do I need to get new wires, or just change the boots and plugs themselves? PLEASE HELP GUYS! I am really ready to drive my car. Thanks in advance guys, this is one of the last things holding me back from getting tuned.

Ghost,
I also put a LS into my 69 Camaro and used Dynotech headers, I think the installation instructions recommended MSD wires that you cut to size. I used them but instead of routing the wires like you did, I ran them outside or around the header tubes. I know these are expensive but I have had no problems since the wires do not touch the headers.

I have these same headers on my Nova, what I did was get plug wire set for a 93 LT1 corvette. They have the ends that work with our coil packs and then cut them to size and put those heat sock deals on. I have yet to have any issues and the cost about $60 for the plug wires.

Dang Cunning, I was hoping I didnt have to go that route. I really hate to change my wires, the ones I had originally cost me like 80 bucks.

Boot, do they touch even with the heat socks or are they for just in case? How long have you run you set up like this and how often do you drive it?
