Do I need a fuel pump inertia switch?

Do I need a fuel pump inertia switch? Do I need to put some sort of inertia switch on the fuel pump? Or will the computer shut the pump off when it sees the engine isn't running anymore?
If you have the fuel pump controlled through the VCM it will kill fuel if the engine dies. I am not aware of any GM cars with an inertia switch but Ford loves them. I have one on the Thunderbird only because it was already there, but none of my GM cars have one.
It's a safety item, if your car gets hit, the motor doesn't just die. They are super easy to wire in and about a gazillion of them in Taurus's waiting to go into a hot rod. You can even get them with a hot output when activated so you can put in an idiot light and tell if it got activated (might make troubleshooting easier).

I bought the Mustang inertia switch sold by Summit to mount it my conversion in the interest of safety. Impact or roll-over and it shuts down the fuel pump. And yes it has a normally open in the connector that you can run to an indicator in case it gets tripped.
