Jeep CJ7 Body on a C4 Chassis powered by LR4
#61
I concluded that it wasn't good to have the oil pan 2" off the ground so I bought a C5 pan from an ebay seller for $150. Had to notch the crossmember I had made because the deep part of the pan is further forward. Wiring harness install planned for tomorrow.

Yes, that is the plan. Thanks for the kudos, men. I'm in the middle of a separation and possible divorce and it is hard to get motivated to work on it sometimes. I put in only about 5 hours on it over the weekend. Should have been more like 12. I made a mount for the fuse box and PCM. Plan to start plumbing the fuel system today.

take the time to relocate the battery and take a welding class.

Mounted an old Harrison shorty AC compressor where the spring loaded idler was. Got the radiator and heater hoses routed.
Started the engine for the first time today. I modified a truck harness and had a tuner do a basic tune, vats, rear o2's, etc. I cranked it for a day or two and finally realized I wasn't sending power to the ecu. I replaced the 3 ignition fuses with jumpers and supplied 12V to all three and it fired up. Sounds nice.

Neat project, but bad idea using the BMW wheels. They will put a strain on your wheel studs that can ultimately lead to catastrophic failure, like a wheel falling off.

If a hubcentric ring needs to be used, make sure it's made of metal. The plastic rings available should be outlawed.

To everyone moaning about the wheels, you saw the daily civic and other projects, right? It's blazing yellow with a raked windshield sitting a few inches off the ground - do you really think the blingy wheels detract from it? I'd say this project is intended to get attention and it will with those (agreeably ugly but fitting to the project) reeeums.
Cool thread, great progress! Can't wait to see it done.

It's a runner. Drove it up and down the street a couple of times. Sounds really sweet. Passed the 13 year old daughter test. Got the silverado gages mounted. Tach, oil pressure, speedo, voltage working. Not sure if temp is working. Thanks for the encouragement. I do like the wheels but I might get some 18" torque thrusts with black centers eventually. Here are some pics with the grille as requested. Also picked up some hard doors and a hard top. Plan to chop the hard top to fit the corvette windshield.
