I was thinking about my radiator support as well when I dropped off the sub-frame but I kinda just blew it off since it might still be a while. I'm going to try and repair that myself, that thing is ate up from the battery side.

Seems like the core support is bad even on the most rust free cars. My car had very little rust, but the core support is going to need some work.

luckily my floors were done before i even thought of the ls1 swap. my subframe connectors are waiting until i have the full weight of the car on all 4's so i can make sure everything is lined up correctly.

I wanted the engine to look sorta like the olds i had in it before, so GM corporate blue it went. hopefully gunna finish the rough in wiring tonight, than i can send my ecm out to get reprogrammed

well turns out i'm going to have a lot of wiring to do. I'm mounting my pcm on the front section of my fenderwell, behind the radiator support. have to extend pretty much every wire. I will be starting this tomorrow, so i will post pics of it when I'm done.

Sounds like fun. Can't wait for the wiring in mine.

small update:

well i bit the bullet, and thanks to my local napa dealer (who my shop does a TON of business with daily), i ordered up the brakes, fuel lines, and the rest of my suspension components. i should have pretty much everything (waiting on PTFB suspension pieces, torque converter and driveshaft), and than just need to send my PCM out to get reflashed. I'm debating on getting HP tuners, because itll be 300$ for someone else to flash it, or 500 for me to buy the program. so i'm not sure yet.

in other news, i re pinned my factory 01 fuse/relay box for what i need. now just need to mount it, and run the wires. getting close to firing it up, can't wait.

Moving along nicely. Where you able to do the wiring harness yourself? I have an uncut harness that I want to use for the swap, but I'm not too sure I want to hack it up and not be able to use it. What I'm most worried about is the fuel system wiring and to the ignition.

if you need any help man let me know. i have the whole harness done and wired up, just need to ship out the pcm and get it tuned. my first suggestion is to not cut anything until your completely sure what you're doing. also, check all of your wires for continuity to make sure you dont have any cold solder joints, or a broken wire. i ended up de pinning one of the underhood fuse boxs from the camaro because i wanted to combine two into one (didnt have the room)

just need to test that everything kicks on with the key (need to reconnect my trans ams underhood harness and eliminate everything out of that before i can give the relay power from the ignition switch. and check to make sure all the injectors click over, etc etc

Default 79 Z28 LS6 swap

nunan0219
I'm doing a transplant with an LS6 into my 79Z. I am using the Transdapt conversion plates and the stock clam shell motor mounts (which transdapt said would work) and they are not lining up? Do you have any pics of your set up?
Thanks

Return the Trans-Dapt plates, that's what I did, and order the car shop 1in setback plates and you will need different mounts than what Trans-Dapt dummies send you. I will post a link that nunan posted on my thread.

So you did use the clam shells, just with different plates?

Also, you should see the pics I just posted with my original question.
