Default Factory Five GTM..

Ran into a Factory Five GTM yesterday on my way to dinner. Had no idea what it was so I swung around to get a better look. ...yeah, i was that guy, and snapped a quick pic. Don't run into to many things I don't recognize on the street, luckily the guy was cool and gave a wave, i'm guessing he's used to it. Sounded AMAZING at idle (maybe a small cam) and when he took off

If it wasn't only a $20,000 starting point plus the cost of the transaxle. I wonder what the new version is like. Hopefully the interior is a little nicer but boy are they nice looking. Really like that color too.

Most of them I've seen run about $60k complete. FF says $40k is possible if you can do all the work yourself and go bare bones on everything but if I'm spending that much I'm doing a much nicer interior. The worst thing I've read is that if you're over 6'3, you're not gonna fit so I'd be pushing it as far as head and leg room goes.

I've heard the regularly run up to and over $100k, though the ones in the 50-k range are more common. I'd love to do one of these. Little more expensive than a Pro Touring 1st gen build, but not by much.

I'm pretty sure you can get away with spending 50k. However when I was pricing the kit plus all the parts the way I wanted to built it. It was pretty close to 100k...

LOL yeah but you have issues . . . I mean who puts an LS motor in an FF Cobra!?
Is your car up and going yet? I remember talking with you a bit probably a year ago regarding header fabrication... I think it was when I still had the old NA foxbody.

Boy do they look mean, but i agree unless you do everylast part yourself, and basically steal the corvette parts car you could build one for 40!

yeah its expensive as hell, but then again, so are most projects. everything costs more then you think. just thought it was cool for a kit car, thats essentially an exotic with an lsx heart

I'd rather have a Gagliardi Vendetta instead. The interior looks way better and that's a big thing for me. I wanted a FF until I saw how much better I liked the Gagliardi's interior.

They are definatly fun to drive. It gets kind of embarasing though when you drive them anywhere because people hang out of the windows to take pictures, and any time you park, 20-30 people come over to ask you the same questions over and over.

But driving it makes that all worth while when you get on it a little..

Yes I do have issues. Isn't that the first step is to admit the problem? haha

Yep the cobra is almost ready for registration. I updated the build thread.

Which one of your many sig links is the thread???

I wanted a 33-34 from FF, but found a body from another company dirt cheap, and fabbed up my own chassis. I think i honestly enjoyed building my own chassis more than i would have assembling a kit.

After my brothers ls miata next summer, i think i might build my own mid/rear mount super car. Hell its just a whole bunch of steel and fiberglass.

The thing i don't get about the vendetta is why spend so much on one, when a gallardo has almost reached the same prices. At the end of the day, yea its unique but looks way to much like a lambo. Atleast the FF gtm looks like nothing i've seen on the road yet.

There are two major reasons I can't own one... I don't have access to 40K that doesn't have another purpose and I'm not going to section my legs and torso to fit in it.

Looks cool though and I dig the color however I'm not sure I want something that exotic. I used to know a guy with a Lambo kit on a stretched Fiero chassis in the early 90's and he couldn't drive it anywhere without nearly holding a press conference when he arrived.

There is an uncompleted one in Cal. for sale, with all the needed parts for 26K in the FFR GTM Builders forum. That's a smokin deal.

They make a nice kit car..... the body finish I've heard is subpar and requires a lot of prep if you want a super clean paint job.

There is another car called an RCR SLC that even though the cost of entry is higher $40-45K it comes with better billet CnC'd suspension, a gel coat finished body (just like a boat and offered in a few different colors with no painting required), looks better IMO, and with the end result once you factor in paint will be about a wash. This car with an LS7 driveline supposedly weighs 2200lbs with a G50 transaxle.

When it comes to kit cars, I still drool over the car from the old tv series "Hardcastle&McCormick", anyone remember that one?

How is billet "better"?

I will take a proven/tested Corvette suspension over anyone elses wet dream of a suspension.
