I test fit my GTO tank into the trunk of my 70 Chevelle, and I hate to be the one to tell you, but it doesn't fit... Just Barely. Probably with some minor Modifications you could make it work. It'll fit lenght wise and width wise, but it's just a hair too tall....

That's a bummer. Well I guess I will just play around with it see what I can do.

i would be a little concerned about having an accident and having you/your passengers burned.. a fuel cell is designed to take an impact, a gto tank hwad the passenger compartment sealed off with steel, just somthing to do/think about when your making it fit..

It's not completely sealed, There are plenty of holes between the trunk and the passenger compartment. He'd be placing this tank directly in the same location in roughly the same circumstances at the GTO....

That being said, I thought about putting this tank in the same location, but decided that I wanted the fuel kept outside the passenger compartment...

A cell is little more than an aluminum box with some foam stuffed in it. And it is placed about a foot from the rear bumper. The gto tank is steel plus a plastic cover. And it will be placed about 4 feet from the rear bumper plus it will be over and between the rear axle. They both have roll over protection so that's not really an issue.

Well I got my tank today. And it definitely don't fit, the metal tank is about an inch and a half to tall. I am gonna try to cut it down. I will also have to trim the hump out of the middle of the shelf. I will keep you updated.

I just saw this on Eckler's Chevelle. If I had seen this before I bought my Ricks Tanks, I would've saved $550..

Thanks that is a very reasonable option. If I don't get this tank worked out I will prolly go that route. I am gonna start a new thread with the link to that tank if you don't mind.

Not a problem. I would've preferred this tank over the Ricks Tank because it looks more factory.

Have you played with your fuel pump anymore. How are you planning on getting the fuel out of the tank. After doin a little research I found that the pump is internally regulated so that could be nice. But the fuel outlet is inside the tank so that might be a liam trying to swap it to the chevelle tank.

I'd imagine that is the Spectre tank people complain about here and at the pro-touring forum. I don't have any first hand experience but supposedly the pump sucks and the baffling... well, is non existent.

yeah looks like it. I have a spectre tank and wished I would have saved my money for one of the new ricks tanks.

I haven't yet... But I followed KWizz's build, and I really like what he came up with.

I've got a buddy with a machine shop that I'm hoping to have one of those little gadgets made... But we'll see.

Fits almost like it was never supposed to be there. Waiting on my buddy to get his tig welders fixed so I can put the top back on the tank. Also decided to put a filler door next to the trunk lid.

Just wanted to see how the OE pump bucket was baffled inside the tank. I figure that I'll eventually cut up the tank that I have, but wanted to get a sneak peak

The first pics shows it the best pretty much just split down the middle with the ends kinda divided off and there is holes all in the baffles. I am actuallly mounting it in the car backwards hopefully that doesn't effect anything.

That essentially puts the gas tank in the passenger compartment doesn't it?
