Well we got her drivable last night around 7pm. Ran her on 93 with a fuel additive (nitromethane). Open header btw. Couldn't figure out why it won't go in reverse... duh transbrake needed to be wired up. We had a microswitch, but no button, so we rigged it up on the trunk release button haha!

But as for driving!

All I can say is wow! It idles actually very nicely, does not surge, or stall out at all. It drives like my GTO in regard to how easy it is to keep it running. I drove a H/C/I MS4 GTO that a buddy has and I couldn't get that thing out of the parking lot without stalling, but with this thing no problem.

The car drives great, other than being obnoxiously loud, having no traction (street tires), and having a few little details that need to be finished.

Cooling stayed between 160-180, Oil pressure was solid @ 60lbs. Transmission shifted flawlessly.

I generally putted around with her, keeping it sane, but made a quick stab at the throttle or two taking it to around 5k. I will say that my 3600 rpm stall, is now a 4200ish stall, but it pulled like an absolute raped aped, and to be honest with you, I was a bit afraid lol.

The LSA on the cam is 114+3, I'm going to see how it does on the track, as I know this LSA is more for an EFI set up, but I'll be the guinea pig for research purposes. I know it should respond very well on nitrous!

I will take photos of the steering shaft ASAP.

Photos of the steering shaft, at least what I could get with my iphone with limited light.

The rag joint was cut off, and U joint put on and welded on the shaft end. The 36 spline slips right on with no issue.

What is everyone's opinion on exhaust? I would love to have a Spintech set up on this car, but want to make sure I maximize power.

Think some sort of bullet mufflers straight piped, or some sort of crossover?

Exhaust is going on today, and put a cowl hood on it.

I'm putting 3" straights to 2 chamber flowmaster 40 series. My thinking behind this is to maintain somewhat of a 5.0 sound, as I'm going to tell people it's a 5.0 with a really big cam lol.

The hood was a freebie from a friend as the stock hood will not fit. He let me have his Cobra R hood with SVO scoop. I know, I know, but it was free. I'm saving up my pennies to get a nice to the windshield 4", but the one I have will work for now.

Noticed a slight ticking noise coming from the heads. Turns out my ebay valve covers are moving down when hot (silicone gasket) and hitting the rocker arms.

No damage to the rocker arms, motor is fine shouldn't be anything wrong.

We are going to tig weld brackets on the sides of the covers to hold them up. I'll get pictures shortly.

I had read about somebody else having a similar problem with those ebay valvecovers. I don't remember what he did to fix it or if he did anything at all. Be sure to post up the pics when done.

The bolt holes themselves on the valvecovers were to big. We fabricated a spacer/washer set up that keeps the cover from shifting.

We will be putting suspension and tire under the car this month so hopefully I can get some times and tuning done.

Just a quick video update with a photo:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2nV0RmaIgE

No times or results yet, as my brand new "Built to handle 850hp TH350" sprag or intermediary clutch pack is slipping...

Going coil over on the rear, and absolutely positively HAVE TO run the roll bar, as the body on the car is rolling over a solid 3-4" on launch. Will have a ton of new pictures and information shortly, and hopefully results as I will be ordering the hopefully "final" big pieces shortly.

Update-

TH350 ended up broken, put a Glide in.

All new brakes on the car, hoping to get her road worthy again.

Have it set up on E85 right now, just need to do some tuning, then hopefully will have some results.

Updates have been slow as I purchased a house, and just been crazy busy with my wife and daughter.

Had fun at the track last night. Car would not 60' for anything 1.80s off the foot brake 1.62 off the trams brake. Car was also running super rich with no tuning. Keep in mind our track is 60' short and I spun a good 100' out:

Best off the foot brake was 6.74 @100 best off the trans brake was 6.62 @ 101. Short shifting @ 6200-6400 rpm. Timing set around 28* on e85. Going to play with timing, lean the carb out (was so rich it was flooding on the top end after the runs) and bump the shift points up to around 7400 where they should be.

Car would try to transfer weight but the rear is super stiff for some reason (have some non adjustable circle track coil overs which we believe is the problem ). When the car would try to transfer it would unload the tires almost immediately.

Converter is really tight, it is a nitrous converter, and I will try it with nitrous but I have a feeling we will be replacing it with something a little more loose/more efficient.

Car has a lot left in it. I was really happy with the mph for with it being untuned, should be around 103-104 true eighth mile. I think I can pick up another 8-10 mph leaning on it.

Any suggestions would be great. Will post videos shortly.

What is the crank comp? e85 is going to take some testing to figure out. Deff not a bolt on and go deal.

Depending on the comp your timing is in the ball park. I have 28 in mine.

I would look for a converter that goes 5000 then you can spray it on top of that.

The rear of the car should be stiff front needs to be loose. 150 springs work well in the front.

12:1 compression for me.

Would you recommend protorque or ultimate for a converter

UCC for the converter

Run a crank comp test on it with the plugs out. Mine cranks 210-215 and runs on 93 no problem.

4 cylinder springs with strange 10 ways in the front. Swapping to coil overs in front.

Looking at afco big guns for rear.
