Default Best combination for alternator and water pump?

Are there differences in the car and truck water pumps?
What would be the ideal setup to run only a water pump and alternator?
what brackets and water pump/ alternator to use?

f bodies, trucks, Corvette, GTO have their own set ups. Ideally it depends on your $$ and vehicle.
I have a 93 Mustang, truck accessories that I modified. Modified the water pump also. Now my LS1 intake fits, my accessories are more eye appealing, and it was cheap. Check out my photobucket for more info.

As you can see in zipster's photos, some truck water pumps can be modified to have the outlet point out the front like most passenger cars to gain throttle body clearance for a passenger car intake.

Water pumps also vary depending on which harmonic balancer you're using. Corvette balancers run the serpentine belt closest to the engine, F-body and GTO are approx. 3/4" further out and truck/SUV are another 3/4" beyond that.

LS1 Corvettes and F-bodies used the same water pump by having the water pump pulley wide enough to work with either harmonic balancer. Later Corvette and Caddy CTS-V share belt spacing and water pumps I believe.

If you need hood clearance and want to run a passenger car intake on a truck engine then you either modify the pump and front accessories like zipster did or swap to a passenger car balancer and matching brackets or something like Kwik Performance offers.

Im using the stock F Body water pump and stock Alt and brackets on my swap. Bought a smaller belt and an adjustable tensioner and it works perfect.

LS1 F bodies use a 2 piece bracket that mounts the alt. low on the pass side. Katech is one of many that sell and adj. tensioner. I got mine off of Ebay.
