2008 LS3 out of Corvette
Hi I am looking to buy a used 2008 Corvette LS3 with 6 speed auto to put in my 36 Chevy. I would like to know if there is and adapter you can buy to go from a torque tube to a yoke for a driveline? Thanks Rick

You do realize that the transmission is mounted in the rear on the Corvette. Correct? If you are keeping the Corvette transaxle, you would simply have the torque tube shortened, but you really can not convert the trans to mount behind the engine, cost effectively, and use a conventional driveshaft. You will need to buy a trans that is is intended for front mounting.
The 6l trans is a monster and will require much cutting on the tunnel on most cars. I just finished putting one in an early Chevelle and I had to cut a bunch on the tunnel.

If you do a search here you can find out how to hook up everything from a powerglide to 6L80 auto and muncie to T56 manual.
What trans do you want to run?

Rick, before you spend a lot of money chasing parts you won't need, spend some time reading Ken's thread where he put an LS2 in a 1937 Ford. His thread will help you out tremendously!!!

You have 2 options on the 6L trans. Either get one with a yoke on the rear for a conventional drive shaft, or get one from a car with IRS that has the fixed flange on the rear for driving the rubber coupling and convert it for a yoke. I bought a G8 trans because it was almost 0 miles and it was cheap because it was from a IRS car. It cost me less than $300 worth of parts from GM to convert it. You have to replace the rear tailshaft housing, the output shaft, and a seal kit.

I got less than $1K in mine! I can replace it 5 times before I have as much in it as the TCI! Great, it will handle 850 horsepower and mine will only handle 550 horsepower. My engine only makes 450 horsepower, so what I am I getting for the additional $5K?
