Default A/C with the LS1?

Would I have any problems getting my air conditioning to work when I do the LS1 swap in my '82 corvette? Is there enough room under the hood for the A/C components? Thanks for any help you can give

Your going to have to buy aftermarket brackets and a different compressor. Other than that nothing else.

vintage air makes an adapter for GM compressors. does anyone know if this will work?? I really don't want to replace my almost new GM compressor.

Thanks,

Yes, that will work. I used it on my compressor. They sell it for like $18.00. I also used the Vintage Air compac gen II system with the LS1 compressor.

Do you have a part# for that bracket that VA sells-cause I just got off the phone w/Paul and he says the LS1 compressor wouldn't work with there systems and also the LT1 compressors. He says a factory compressor can be used-but not one from an LS1 or LT1 because there both variable.

I have been through this too many times. Have a look at the most recent thread on this subject.

WHAT I am asking for is your Vintage Air part# that will make the factory LS1 compressor work with the VA set-up.

They may work but maybe there's a reason VA won't say it'll work. Maybe it works but not to it's fullest potential... Maybe they don't want to assume responsibility and they haven't fully tested compatability or maybe they want to sell their own compressors.

I was referring to VA's comment:

("He says a factory compressor can be used-but not one from an LS1 or LT1 because there both variable. ")

As for a bracket, to what do you refer? I used the factory F-body LS1 bracketry to mount the compressor. I bought an adapter to change the LS1 ports from that GM oring to #8 and #10 threaded ports.

SALES @ VINTAGE AIR [sales@vintageair.com]

"The stock compressor on the LS1 will not work with our system. We have a kit to convert the OE system to use a Sanden compressor."

I am installing a ’99 Camaro LS1 / T56 engine / trans into my ’67 Chevy II, can I use the existing compressor, as it fits in nicely, or will I need to use your’s? If so will it fit into the stock( near motor mount) location?

Thank you

I personally don't care what VA says. Because I too asked them the question over a year ago and got the same reply. The proof is under the hood of my Camaro. And it says IT WORKS.

I might just go out and get a GM system to put in my car rather than the VA components, as they don't seem to be very helpful....
