Hey Pat, thanks for the link. I have delt with Alan once before a long time ago. Im going to try a 5speed behind it next time with his clutch and pressure plate. Arias makes pistons and crower makes rods for it. I will probably tear into the motor someday and do a custom turbo setup for 700-800hp.

how about programming the engine? I heard they're a bitch to work on. Sounds killer though.

Holley commander 950 is what Alan Johnson uses and has been for quite a long time.

Even my 5spd is giving me trouble and I'm stock with 77k

Casey,

If you want some more feedback on the 5spd, check out the v6 fbody forums. Ton of people at camarov6.com are modding their sixes and have probably dealt with the 5spd. I think there's even a guy running 11s.

Good luck

Default Northstar Camaro

Casey,

It's good to see you on the forum. This is Tom. Mark's friend who drove the El Camino with the LT1 swap stationed at Fort Sam. Mark had told me you had swapped to the LS1. Good ot hear you are still going to play with the Northstar swap. I thought that was a really cool swap. Really awesome for a V6 car. Share some pics when you get it on the road.

I'm buying a 2000 Z28 now. Couldn't resist the temptation!

Glad to hear you are back from your deployment. Good luck!

Thanks Tom, I remember you. Ya, I needed a dependable car and didnt want a payment while I was first in the military so I needed a reliable car so I had to do the LS1 swap.

Darrin thanks, I will check it out and see what I can dig up!

Wow this post is from a long time ago!

I was just about to say the same thing. The Northstar is mated to a 5-speed auto in the XLR, but I don't know if it's been mated to a 6-speed manual yet.
The XLR-V has a blown 440hp Northstar, so you could basically build something on the order of an "03 Cobra" motor, if you built the engine to that spec. I'm sure the Northstar would handle just as much if not more power than the Ford 4.6L.

I can build a northstar fairly cheap. Have any info laying around or articles on the xlr-v motor and type of supercharger?

Main thing is getting a transmission. A 5 speed auto sounds nice

Thanks

Here's some info on the XLR-V and STS-V which both use the same roots supercharged 4.4L Northstar engine.

These cars have the newest 6-speed automatic, due to the 5-speed not being strong enough to hold the 469hp.
