Speaking of adding nothing...at least I was trying to make it easy to read for others so thanks for hopping on the "some sort of thread police" wagon.
None the less...Hurry up! I want to see this running.

I dont care about punctuation...i talk just like i type...
I'm slow and semi hard to follow!
if you dont like it...
but no really i dont really care about it! your not the first person to say anything either!
i havent had much time since the tear down..i should be dropping the block and heads off at the shop this week some time. im getting alot of flack from the ford guys saying the 5.0 is a better motor and blah blah blah..well fact of the mater is i got a good deal on an LS1 and i like thease motors! and in the end its my truck and it will be cool.
One thing i have thought about though is...i hate the sound of those Camaros that are just alll exaust....i want more of a mellow sound...somthing that sounds really crazy runnen past ya...like wtf is in that sound... can that be done with an LS1?

You can change the exhaust to make it sound like a lot of stuff. I would look into youtube for the sounds you like the most. Then, go from there and try to find the rest of the stuff to make it match. I.E. single or dual exhaust, shorties or long tubes, etc, etc.
Oh, and its "YOU'RE and idiot"...and the 5.0 is D O N E making power at or about 400ish hp. You will split the block much after that, and have to do it again with a better setup.

The most 'exotic' sound ive heard out of an ls was a full bolt on gto with magnaflows, so longtubes to an x pipe to dual bullet-style magnaflows.. Still can be loud, so some people add another muffler for the 'quiet' types, but it was the best sounding ls i can think of, and it was an auto

Let me know when you're ready to bolt it in. I've got my 5.3 bolted into my 1997 F150. It was so simple, it made me wonder why anyone would put anything else but an LS based engine in their F150 especially if you're replacing the 4.2 six cylinder like I did.

i would love to see some pictures of that!
please show!!

So i got me a TH400 3/4ton case with a bolt on yoke today rebuilt for 350. My brother in laws farther is gonna dyno it and put in a manuel valve body for me and send it my way.
My truck has been dropped off at the Frame shop to get straitened out and i am now waiting for the Speartech guys to get back to me about my harness..

I was actually going to put this 5.3 in my 1980 El Camino but decided to drop it in my 1997 F150 when the 4.2 hydrolocked. I already had a set of BHP motor mounts for the G-body El Camino. I have a LS6 block and a T5 transmission laying around so I used that for the mock up. I have a spare LS1 T56 I'm going to use. The T5 is the same dimensionally as the T56 and of course, the LS6 block is the same as the 5.3 as far as mock up is concerned. I pulled out the 4.2 and the original 5 speed. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself but the original 5 speed is within 1/2" of total length as the T56 and....it's also has an internally actuated hydraulic throw out bearing just like the T56. And get this.... The input tubing diameter of the throw out bearing is the exact same diameter as the T56 tubing diameter. Both are held in with a pin. So I drove out the pin of the Ford 5 speed and put it into the T56 throw out bearing. Now it works with the original Ford pedal, slave cylinder and hydraulic line. I might have to build a pedal stop. That will come later when it's all together. So if I can find a proper yolk for the Ford driveshaft, I may be able to keep the Ford driveshaft and not even have to shorten it! The Ford yolk is the same OD and ID as the T56 output shaft but the spline configuration is different.
Now this is just the physical mounting. I'm sure the electrical part will have it's hurdles. I'm having a custom harness built from a firm out of Arizona. They will leave in just enough OBD II sensors to pass emissions and will custom tune the ECM to the 5.3 build which is fairly mild. A Comp Cams Truck grind and Lloyd Elliot ported 5.3 heads are the extent of the modifications to the motor. At 5000 feet, it would be great to get 350 hp and 350 foot pounds...especially after living with the enemic 4.2 Ford six with a whooping 210 hp and 225 ft/lbs.
Get those pictures for you soon.

I was under the impression a t5 was smaller than a t56??
is it equal length and the t56 is taller/bigger around/deeper?
theres a t5 in my mustang, i thought id need a tko...

The T5 case is smaller for sure but the overall length is exactly the same as well as the transmission mount distance from bellhousing to mount. The output shaft is the same diameter and the spline count the same. In other words, a yolk from a T56 will fit a T5 with no modifications. I have to find a yolk from a Chevrolet truck with the correct diameter and spline configuration as the T56/T5. The truck yolks have a longer shaft. Probably because the rear suspension has more travel and the yolk has to operate within this longer range.
