Ls1 going in a 50 Ford woody.
Wanted the new motor but not to look like one. We are keeping all the factory cumputer/injection functional but using 6 rochesters on it for the TB's.

This is a picture of it in my project. Not going there but had to stick it in there for a pic.

I have a set of 2 barrel Webers with progressive linkage. I wonder if there is some way to modify the Rochesters to get the outer barrels to open after the inners.
It really comes down to total cfm. The motor is only capable of flowing "X" which is essentially where your full throttle will be regardless of where the butterflys are at. So thats where I make the butterflys sit when the pedal is all the way down. Then I use my custom linkage to solve the problem of too much air too quick on the low end.
But without the injection yes your idea would be a possible solution if you wanted to try to run all 6 carbs straight up.
