LS1 swap into an 86' IROC
I did a few searches, didn't find exactly what I was looking for. Speartech has some great pictures/info. on his page. I also have the magazine earmarked that has a few pictures of Roy's swap from thirdgen resource.
What I am curious about is: I sold the SBC out of my 86', but kept the Art Carr 700R4 & 3500 stall. I know the transmission will bolt up, but will the TQ converter bolt up to the stock LS1 flywheel? I have a good amount of $$$ invested into the converter and would hate to need to buy another one.
Also, I plan on using the stock fuel lines in the car and would like to know how hard it is to connect to the LS1 fuel rails.
Thanks in advance!

Your converter will not bolt up to the LS1 flywheel. According to the GM LS1 installation guide the crankshaft is .400" shorter, in relationship to the bellhousing mounting flange than a SBC. They say in order to use a 700r4, turo350 or turbo 400 to use flywheel part # 12551367 (i think this is just a standard SBC flywheel) and crankshaft spacer part # 12563532, They say the longer bolts are included with the spacer but if they are not the part number for them is 12563533.

If your car was a TPI you can use the stock fuel lines. Not sure about TBI. You can use a 97 LS1 style fuel rail that has the return loop. Othjerwise you will need a pressure regulator to provide the loop.

I started mine for the first time last Wednesday, still finalizing the wiring harness but it starts and runs. I'm trailering it to the exhaust shop for y-pipe fabrication this Fri. Still need to add a wire to the harness for coolant temp gauge (I installed a '98 CTS in the passenger side head) and fab up a harness for my two cooling fans, but that's it.
I haven't posted the latest round of pics on my '82 Z28 swap, but here's last week's batch:
