Default 2000 Jaguar S-Type 4.0

Hello everyone. Happy NewYears to you all. I am looking into installing an LS series engine into my 2000 Jaguar S-Type. Can anyone help me decide if this is possible and what's the damage it would take? Thanks. WEST

Thanks for the quick reply DEUCE. I know they did it for the older Jags, but haven't seen it on the new ones. I want to figure it out before spending a lot of money to repair the one I have. Thanks again.

You might talk to the guys at jaguar specialties and current performance wiring.
I know Current Performance is working on a '97 XK8 right now, with an LS3 and 6L80E they are putting in.

Sounds like a neat swap, I'm personally a fan of the 2000-ish S-Type myself. I believe it came with a 3.0 V6 or V8.

Ok thanks a lot. It's such a nice car and I want to continue to improve it, but Jaguar is a little expensive.

It is a nice car. I got it cheap to resurrect it from neglect.lol. It has the 4.0 in it and I will fix that engine if I can't find a good swap. Thanks again.

I think you're on your own for an S-type. It'll be tight in there. If you had an XJ, Andrew at JaguarSpecialties.com could help. I'm on my 2nd Jaguar swap and 4th Jaguar, and I've never seen an S-type swapped. That's not to say it can't be done!

Thanks for your input. I gonna repair the engine that's in it for now. I don't want to buy an engine from the junk yard and have the same problems that Jaguar noted on this one.

If you are interested, I think that Jag at Current Performance had the 4.0L in it, and it is for sale. I think it had something like 50k miles on it. Should have the auto trans too.

I'm not sure yet. I bought the car while I was Deployed to Iraq. Now that I'm back I will start on it. To many people tell me to replace the engine and that's not my way of thinking. The car overheated for the previous owner. I found some issues with the engine. The waterpump was bad, the thermostat housing was broke, plugs never changed, fuel filter terribly clogged etc.. The engine starts right up and sounds like an exhaust leak along with some upper enging tapping. Vehicle smokes a little also. No antifreeze in the oil.

That time range of Jags are notoriously unreliable at best; there is a reasonable chance that replacing what you have with more of the same will simply be an exercise in futility.

Water pump -common, especially with the original with the plastic impeller.

Engine tapping - check this SOON before you grenade the engine!
