Some insight needed????? I'm new to the LS1 hydraulic clutch and slave cylinders.Does this have an external or internal slave cylinder?Would the tranny have to come down to service the slave cylinder if there was a problem or can one be used where the tranny wouldn't have to come out?Does the aftermarket or GM make one to work with the LS1?What do you guys think about using mech. linkage with the T56? I'm trying to figure out WHAT would be the best way to go on my 57 Chevy! Thanks
The stock slave slides over the input shaft of the trans, so it sounds like "internal". I didn't see any way you could replace it without pulling the trans off the bellhousing.
My old LT1 T56 trans used a slave that bolted onto the bellhousing and actuated a fork lever, easily replaceable without dropping the trans.

Actually I don't believe that McLeod makes an "external" release bearing. The LS1 and LT1 bellhousings are different. The LS1 bellhousing has no provisions to mount the TO bearing externally. It just has holes on the side for the hoses to pass through.
