5.3L on the cheap what to do?
Hey everybody i just bought a 99 5.3 with 81,000 miles on it with all acces for $400 and with about $2000 more to spend i was looking for good spending advice. This motor is going in to my 67 camaro. Oh yeah i will definetly be going wit a carb set up so -$1000 for carb, intake, and ignition and 6.0L flex plate + spacer bolts and cup some holle elongating required.. springs? cam? pistons? No good posts on this that i could find. 400hp for $2450 is pretty reasonable who knows what. thankyou.

If you need a 4L80E flexplate with spacer and bolts, I have one. It's from an '04 6.0 w/ 58k miles on it. This flexplate is only good for the 4L80E, as it's got 6 holes on the wide pattern. None of the 4L60E converter holes will line up with them.
I still have the exhaust manifolds and oil pan, too. Not that you could use those.

A cam and spring combo would probably put you over your budget after you buy all the other components like mounts and other small stuff. You might be able find some decent used cams in the classifieds section.

I picked up a tr224, some 241 heads with patriot dual golds on them and some comp push rods for $440 total shipped (where applicable), then sold the heads for basically what it cost me to ship them. Between here, performancetrucks.net and ebay there are good deals out there if you have the time to wait for them. Adding pistons though seems unnecessary, but I'm not an expert. At all.
