I had received a few vendor names from Patrick that carried these newly designed tanks. I contacted each one of these vendors and they all had no clue what I was talking about? I just sent Patrick a folow up email trying to locate one of there new tanks for my 72 chevelle.
I will let u know of the response I get if any. Has anyone bought one of these newly designed spectra tanks? If anyone has any info please share. I'm looking for a good tank in the 500 to 600 dollar range. I really don't have the 1200 to buy a rick's!

I personally would buy a repo tank and do the 03 Ford SuperDuty 6.8L pump upgrade. The pump assembly is a Airtex 110-E2234M - In-Tank Fuel Pump. Check out post 217 & 219 on page 11 of this thread.. This Ford mod is FirstGenGuy's (or something like that). I whish I waited on buying my Spectra tank and seen this mod. Best cost effective solution IMHO.

I've just put a couple of hundred miles on the tank and I don't think it's terrible, but it's not perfect. I got a spudder once when I pulled hard out of a right hand corner and I was down about 8 gallons. I just did 14 passes on it at the strip with out a hickup.
Just to clarify, I don't have this new tank that folks are talking about. I bought mine fall of 2010. I may try to exchange it for this new design.

Does anybody know if you can put a valve or something in the neck of these tanks? Every time I fill up all the wall and drive away with any amount of speed gas sloshes out. Not cool.

Is your gas cap in good shape? I have a vented one and it doesnt leak any. Are you sure it is coming out of the cap? I had a broken solder joint at the neck where it meets the tank and had the same problem of gas spilling out under acceleration. I didnt notice it till my wife started to complain about gas fumes. I purchased a new tank and cap and problem solved. Does the cap screw on tight. My new tank/cap combo is tight as hell.

I read in a magazine about a swap S&P was doing and they recommended to prime the fuel pump through the pressure line. They used a little oil squirt can in the pic. Not sure if this has any relation to Spectras pump issues or not, but *IF* I ever get that far, I will be doing it for a "peace of mind"

I just found this thread...I must have the first build of this tank. I purchased two years ago and car is done now. First drive after leaving the alignment shop. Drove about 25 miles and was loving my ls3 then no fuel pressure. Guage read 3/4 on autometer guage. Thought I was good. Loaded on trailer to the gas station. 7.9 gallons to full. Car cranked on trailer. Will spectra warranty this? 67 camaro tank is 15 gallons? Sounds like i have the early tank???

I installed one of the original Spectra tanks in my LS1 A body conversion and it suffered from the same problems as all the rest. Well I just got the latest generation tank and the early indications are pretty good. I drove it for the first time yesterday and I haven't experienced any stalling issues yet, and that was with a 1/4 tank of gas.
I forgot to take some pics of the inside but the differences seem to be the old inner pump bowl has been bisected by an additional baffle and the bottom has more holes to allow fuel to get back into the bowl area. Other than that I didn't see any difference in the pump or anything else.
I drove it around this weekend and had no surging at all. I put it through left and right turns and full throttle acceleration and had none of the old starvation issues. I haven't calibrated the gas gauge yet but I probably had between 5-8 gallons of gas to start and it worked fine.
BTW-the one I removed is listed for sale in the non LS1 parts section.

Now that I look at your photo it reminds me that there are some additional holes in the bottom of the sump to allow more gas to get into the bowl area. I have driven around on the new tank for a few days now and on really low levels of gas-damn near empty-and not a hint of starvation. I was actually able to do a nice little powerslide after doing a u turn because it would have stalled before. So far, so good!
