fuel pump wire thickness?
I just bought an Aeromotive 340HP (in tank) as a replacement for the Walbro 340 in my S truck. what's funny is they recommend 10 gauge wire, but the pigtail wiring that comes with the pump looks to be 18 gauge! Guess they want to rule out the vehicle harness as a potential problem...
Fuel pumps don't draw much current, typically only a 7.5 amp fuse. Bigger wire won't hurt anything, but it probably doesn't help as much as some guys would like to think.
Just make sure you run a ground wire back to the main ground point under the dash. I'm not a big fan of using rusty car bodies to run the ground current through. the ground wire should be the same gauge as the power wire.

Verdad Gallardo I have a 40A fuse on the back of my alternator (B+) running through a 40A relay (#10 wire all the way) to the pump hanger. I don't claim the "hotwire" setup is going to add anything, but it sure won't detract anything either. It's more about the voltage at the pump than anything else, just look at the pump curve sheets if you have any doubts...
