Default 4l60e or 4l80e

I have a 2000 to 2003 I think LQ4 out of a truck and now need a trans. I was told the truck was a 3500 so it should have come with a 4l80e trans RIGHT? I still have the flex plate. Will a 4l60e work with this flex plate and what about all the hook up from the wire harness? Also the motor came out of a 4x4 truck

Its not even close to being the same trans. The 4L80E is physically larger, and uses larger beefier parts throughout and different computer mapping and PCM terminals. Nothing is interchangeable between these two transmissions other than the fluid and maybe the mount and the flywheel, but that depends on applications.

The 4L60E is a light duty unit. I would re-post over in the trans section and possibly the PCM & Diagnostics as you will have to do some modifying.

Use Google next time.

They are not the same trans.
They do not use the same harness.
The PCM programming is different.
They are not the same size.

Also the flex plates are different. 4l60 is dished and 4l80 is flat.

hey man listen to someone who has done this already i have a LQ4(6.0) out of a truck and the fly wheel to the LQ4 has 6 bolt holes for the 4l80e torque converter and the 4l60e only has three we had ours all put together and in the car. went to go put the bolts in the converter and none of the holes lined up but besides that they are the same the only thing that makes it a truck tranny is the tow haul modular for the 4l60e o yeah if you go with the 4l60e dont go out and buy a 4l60e flywheel because for the 4l60e the fly wheel has a curve to it for the 5.3 and will put un wanted pressure on your pump we had that problem luckly no pump damage and if you look at one for the 4l80e its flat what we did and i know its not the right way but it worked we had a 5.3 flywheel and lined it up to the 6.0 flywheel and drilled out the holes and welded up the old holes but we really didn't know what we were doing at that time do your research there might be other ways let me know if you have any ?'s about anything and i'll try to help out the best i can

I thought the 4L60E was basically an electronically controlled 700R4, and the 4L80E was a TH400 with overdrive and electronically controlled.
