Default 5.3 with TH350, but want 4L60e

Installing EFI 5.3 into 1970 Chevelle with TH350 and 2.73 rear gears.
Today found a good 1994 Caprice 4L60e transmission.
And a good price, and I want over-drive, so all is well.
.
1.) I know newer is almost always better because GM has time to fine tune their products, so is 1994 too old?
.
2.) Are there threads about speedometer cable connecting?

In order to use the 4l60e and a cable speedo you will need either the cable-x box or you can purchase the swap kit that Street&Performance sells which allows you to use a 700r4 cable driven tailshaft n a 4l60e.

You can also check Jags that Runs (JTR) on there VSS/Cable tailhousings or conversion kits. (if they still market it).

Also, keep in mind the SBC 4L60E and the Gen III/IV might require different flex plate, spacer and converter?.. No expert on this subject yet.. suggest you research using SBC type of trans on Gen III/IV engines.. (.400" difference somewhere ?).

Use the flexplate adapter like you would for any older trans and rock it. Wiring and connector are the same, just 94's are without PWM

What is PWM and does it matter?

Pulse width modulation

Sort of a computer controlled halfway between lockup and unlocked converter

That sounds necessary for better gas mileage.
Right?

That and driving refinement

Find a 95 or newer 4L60E and itll have everything the LSx 60's have or a competent trans shop to replace the few bits to make it PWM compatible
