Default Fuel pump problems

I have been trying to Hook my pump up in my 80 trans am and it just keeps blowing fuel lines apart when I start it, just have it hooked straight up so I can hear my car run. It's like it's putting out too much pressure or something.

What's the correct way to hook this **** up? I don't want to get my tank and everything set up and still have it blowing apart.

You HAVE to have a regulator, with a return line, so the extra fuel goes back to the tank or it will continue to blow the lines apart.

I thought the 2004 6.0 truck intake had a regulator built in, guess that's not true?

The truck intake does have a regulator built right into the stock fuel rails, I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "hooked straight up" maybe some pictures might help to diagnose your problem. Where is it blowing the lines apart?

I just hooked the pump up to the rails with a few feet of gas line to see if it would fire up.

Well the fuel rails are setup for a quick connect style fitting, I don't imagine that a rubber line would stay attached very well even if it had a clamp on it.

If the fuel rail only has 1 connection (which I believe 04 has), then you need to put a corvette fuel filter inline with a return line to the tank.

As far as I can remember, they started using the in tank regulators in late 03.

There is only one line going to the rails but there is one coming off the front of the intake, I thought that was the return.. The Vette filter/regulator is what I need right? They are only $20 so I am going to go ahead and get one.

Well I learned some more today, I was basing my info off of my 04 5.3 which has the regulator on the intake. Sorry for incorrect info.
