do you know what trans was behind it in its previous life? if it had a 4l80e your good with what you have and only need to elongate the holes so the converter bolts up.

To help everyone out... You can buy these parts right from your local GM dealer
flexplate 12621399
spacer 12563532
flexplate bolts 12563533 (6 required)

After much research these parts are what is needed to easily bolt an early style trans to a GenIII engine. And as for the design flaws in a 700r4, the rotating internals (clutches, planetaries, drums and spragues) to make the 700r4 as strong as a 4l60e. I use a full manual valve body in my 700r4 and it eliminates the use of TV cable and makes the shifts very firm. Lockup is still used by wiring a toggle switch or an aftermarket kit.

Unfortunatly I was at my local GM dealer in MD Friday and the spacer was on back-order. They did however have the flexplate and bolts in stock. I ordered my spacer from Summitracing.com. It is cheaper in Jeg's but when I called summit they price matched and shipped it to me for $48 complete. Last step before I start my install is the a1000 pump.

Zero feedback but the price is good for the flexplate and spacer. It says he includes the longer bolts in the package too so that makes the deal even better.

Might be worth the zero feedback risk to get the parts at that price.

through gm parts direct

part number 12621399, $50 came with everything wanted and needed, the spacer was already on the flexplate.

however, apparently this is hit and miss, as a dealer will tell you the part number only includes the flexplate... my suggestion is to order it first by itself (even if you have to turn around and order the bolts and spacer, it is still cheaper than the hughes or tci kit...

i went back to the website and noticed they added does not include bolts and spacers, however, I ordered everything separate because of that and had to send the bolts and spacer back at a loss of 20%, and they didnt even want to give a refund because it is special order, made them do it though...

but this is all that came, with the extra parts ordered

if you need to order the bolts and spacer after you check the box to see if they are there then order the following:
#12563532 (1 spacer) $31
and (6) bolts part #19257940, need to order 6 of these part numbers! total of $24

and just to clarify I ordered through gmpartsdirect and the first part number for $50 came with the bolts spacer and flexplate! even with shipping was lowest I could find anywhere by far. Also the dealer used to sell this in the same manner, because of some recall a while ago, why it was so cheap, they caught on at some point and try to charge separate. I was told it may be hit and miss, but it is worth ordering the first part number and waiting to get the flexplate first to see if the bolts and spacer are there...

even though I ordered it all and got the extra parts, that was still cheaper than the dealer wanted out here for the parts separately by about $100
