How hard is this swap? I know it's fairly common, but for someone who's never done an engine swap before would I be getting in over my head?

I love the bricks' looks but I'm not sure I can bring myself to drive a 4 cyl...

Finally got back on the project after coming out of winter hibernation (blames PS3).
Fuel system complete: all lines made, regulator in place, both pumps work, and no leaks.
Intake manifold mounted with new gaskets and 80lb injectors.
Oil dump for turbo made/installed.

After laying sod, maybe this weekend I'll get pics of more progress.

Installed B&M shifter and cable. Also finished the exhaust except for the turnout from the muffler. This 90% of the exhaust:

Still have to blame the PS3 and the heat for not getting much done lately. We'll start the wiring in a few weeks, then minor stuff to finish this project.

Been slowly knocking out the little tasks (coolant, vacuum, accessory wiring, bracketry for mounting radiator, intercooler, transcooler, etc.). Driveshaft installed, as well as ARP flexplate/TC bolts.

Pretty much all that's left is bolts here and there and the engine wiring harness. AEM is laying in the floor, waiting for wires to be terminated. We're going to control the fuel pumps, boost controller, and cooling fans with the AEM.

Should be turning the ignition key in two weeks.

This is a "fabrication" swap. Not to say that can't be your first (my first v8 swap needed a bit of fab) but I haven't seen anyone do a 240 / LSx swap the same way yet. There's no bolt-in, the clearances are actually very tight (worse than a 740) especially for exhaust and trans. I have a lot of dimensioned drawings if you want to seriously pursue it. This one went easier because of the turbos, IMO, and I say easy as a relative term...this dude has skills.

Car is running on the AEM. No noticeable leaks or melting parts so far. Got some cleanup to do on wiring, then maybe more tuning later.

What a relief!
