custom throttle cable?
Doin a 5.3l swap into my 91 z28 and i was wondering if anyone has made their own custom throttle cables. i dont mean any of the Lokar or spectre pieces. i had an idea of makin one out of some bicycle brake cable, brake line tubing and some fittings. thought it might look clean (if done right) and usually the f-body one is kinda long.
kinda like this guy did for his mazda:

Try Mcmaster-Carr www.mcmaster.com. Search 'Cable End' and 'Swage' you will find some parts for a custom cable that might help.

No reason it will not work.. as PSI said. just need to get the parts.. and he has given you the search words.. but also look at your local shops (yellow pages ?)...
I have found many local shop that are not directly Car shop but are in the field that you are needing something made or to build something with.. and they are all willing to make up what you need.. tubes, hoses, metal parts, cables, you name it.
Just drive around the indust areas.. I've found some of my best shops doing this... start thinking outside of the box. it will also save you a lot of money. Special cars shop charge more for the same work most of the time from what i've found...

Can you be a little more specific please? It's funny I had the same Idea and was talking to a bicyclist at work about it. Thanks for the info.

What did you have to do to connect it with the pedal? I was thinking of using the same old cable and just putting the "brake" end on it. I think it may be too short but i could cut the sleeve back to get more line out of it.

on the pedal side i did one of the crimp swedge fittings. later on i might take it back to the bike shop and have them actually crimp and do everything right.
for now its alright. it opens and closes the throttle all the way and its pretty flexible and can do some pretty tight turns.
