Very costly convertion, you have to get a new bell housing, tail housing.. new front plate, input and out put shaft.. shifters rail, shifter.. etc.. sell it and buy a non Vette one..

unless your going to use the Torque tube and Vette rear end.. but that can be costly also.

I think somoe just asked the same question not to long ago.

Using the torque tube and rear trans would be cool.

i think it's a gamble to buy a used trans, if the one you know is good, the 1000-1200 might be worth it to convert it. You can't touch a fbody t56 that's been rebuilt for less than 2k with shipping.

I'm still amazed that people spend 1200+ on used transmissions. I just rebuilt my t56 that I've owned it's whole life and it needed 1200 in parts! It drove fine, shifted ok, some issues. But when we got it apart, it needed a lot (to be fair the 1200 also includes all the upgrades)

There is something to be said for knowing what is going into a trans and who put it there. Buying rebuilt from a random place is technically no better than buying used, as either way you really only know what the guy selling it is telling you.
Rebuilt or needing rebuild, they can both be good options.
