it just happend to have a 2002 ls1 and 4l60e with 80k mile. it has everything i need. accesores, harness, computer...
![](http://www.neufamily.org/images/is300gallery/images/IMG_4571.jpg)
i hope to get a few bucks from what is left of that car after i take what i want.
plan is to just clean everything up and put it in the car. maybe a small shot. i need it to run 12's asap. once winter hits i hope to pull it apart. relocate a bunch of stuff to clean up under the hood and then fab up some kind of turbo set up.
i am tied up for the next couple of weeks so it wont happen too quickly but it wont be long.

like! I bet the ls1/4l60 get better fuel mileage! I had a is300 last year for a DD, it got 20mpg if you were lucky. pretty shitty really compared to all my ls cars that get 20 if you beat on them

i started looking at the engine compartment today. i wont know for sure till i try and set the engine in there but it looks like the cross member and steering are right in the middle. i can either push the engine forward a little + mod the cross memeber a little + mod a gto pan a little to get an engine in there OR mod a camaro pan a little and set the engine back into the firewall a little.
if i set the engine back i will likely mess up some stuff. tranny tunnel for sure, maybe the hvac stuff. also if i set the engine back i would have room for a front mount turbo set up.
if i run it forward i might get by without messing with the firewall/tunnel but i dont love the idea of the gto pan much less a modified gto pan in a car i plan on drag racing. also with the engine forward i think i will end up with a rear mount turbo set up. that part doesn't bother me too much.

With my car we modified the GTO pan and the crossmember. I am planning to run an oil cooler to make up for the lost space in the pan. I also cut out the bulge in the firewall that runs from the "frame rails". I know this car does not have a frame. I wanted my engine as far back as possible without moving back my firewall.
Good luck with your build!
Edit:
One more bit of advice. Move your battery to the trunk and put the ABS unit in it's place.

have you seen DedicatedMatt's build on this and other forums? Super clean install and his mounts looked simple and effecitve.
ohhhhhhhhhh mannnnnnnnnnnn I'm loving your plan right now! I just missed out on a totally refreshed 160k mile '01 IS300 sedan for $6000 with extra 2010 OEM 18" wheels, bummer. could have sold the motor/trans for a grand easily.
these are great cars, I hope to see more LS1 powered ones from now on. I'm jonesin to do a wagon though, the Sportcross looks like a miniature CTS wagon enough for me to love it.

got to work on the car some. i just got done bolting the engine and transmission in the car. i also test fitted many parts including the power steering, water pump, alternator, radiator, intake/tb, passenger manifold, starter.....
all of that stuff looks to fit nicely. the engine looks way high but i put the hood on and the tb is at least 1/2" from the hood so i am good to go.
only challenge i see is the drivers side manifold. i tried a truck one, a camaro one and a g8 one. they are all about the same. hit the steering shaft hard. i will have to look into other options or just make something that fits. the g8 one might fit with some work or i can look into an extra joint in the steering shaft and push it to one side.
the tranny was not even close to fitting. i cut 2 long slits in the floor of the car near the bottom of the tunnel on each side. then smashed the tunnel outward about an inch on each side. the top 1/2 of the tunnel was not touched. that means the dash and counsel and all of that are good to go. the gas pedal needs to be tweaked a hair to clear the new floor location.
tomorrow i plan on cleaning up the accessories and bolting them on. then start working on stuff like hoses and lines. i should get a lot of the easy stuff done. then there is a list of not so easy stuff like shifter, exhaust, wiring, and that drivers side manifold.
