ls1 not oiling

ls1 not oiling

Ok where should I start, I installed an ls1 in my caprice let it run about 5 minutes then it started to tap. I removed the valve covers and notice there is no oil coming out the pushrods on either side, I have around 33psi. Do I need pump or check pickup oring

Check the pick up o-ring. WHat have you donw to the motor since this happened?

So you have 33psi on the gauge and no pik at the top of the engine?

Yes my Gage is showing 33psi but there is no oil coming out the push rods. I'm gonna pull the accessories and change the pump and o-ring.

I wouldn't change the pump just yet. My guess is the oil ring is pinched. Very common.

I'm not argueing with anyone, but if he is showing oil pressure on the gauge wouldn't that mean that it is picking up oil?

Well i got the engine used from a guy that said it had 60,000 miles on it. What I did notice was the heads looked new inside and out. He didn't mention doing any work to it but someone did.

When I first cranked the engine it ran great till the lifters started making noise. I shut it off pulled the covers and started it again and notice no oil coming from the push rods

It doesnt make sense if it is showing 33 psi that is plenty of oil pressure at an idle even when the engine is cold. If you visually did not see any oil up top as you stated, are you sure your gauge is a known good gauge and is accurate.

Ok guys this is what I have so far. I removed the accessories and the bolt for the tube to the pump I removed with my hand it wasn't tight. I picked up a gasket set from the part store it had a green and a red o-ring and the one in the pump is blue and much smaller. This might be my problem.
