Those headers took the American v8 rumble sound away. Now if that sound came from a 944, it would fit!

The 180 headers sound good but they would cost more than the swap to fabricate if you can't diy. The steering shaft limits what you can do with headers, it hugs the block closely.

The turbo diff works better with a 3.375 final drive and you can do the 5th gear swap to get the RPM's down on the highway.

I don't think the 944 had an exotic exhaust note when it had a 4cylinder, the LS1 would improve on it.

I never heard of 180 degree headers either.
That really sounds good.

Does anyone have any info on 180 degree headers?

My first recollection of 180º headers was back in the mid ‘60s (before a lot of you were born ). They were used on the rear-engine cars becoming popular at the Indy 500 particularly the Ford Cosworth powered cars driven by Jim Clark, Graham Hill and others.

They made that vette sound like a Honda.

If you make your own remember the LS has a different firing order than a first gen. You will have to route the tubes in a different order.

Checkout a picture of a LS/944 conversion engine bay. There is no chance those would ever fit.

Certainly those would never fit; they're basically intended for a stock car. You could take some standard tube headers that fit your application, then cross-over the cylinders necessary to make them 180's. Years ago (yeah Mike52; I'm old too), the 180 header fad hit the muscle cars, and that's how they made 180's....cross-over pipes went under the engine. The SBC only needed two to cross-over, IIRC. Anyway, that would be a relatively inexpensive way to do it.

Since you said you wanted an exotic sound, 180's will definately accomplish that goal. Superchargers, titanium exhaust, etc will cost far more and still won't change the sound to the degree that the 180's will.
