Default G body oil pan Q?s

Seems like for G body setups, there are three options..

Car is an 81 malibu on coilovers and sits very low in the front.. ground clearance is an issue.

Stock truck pan (hangs ridiculously low)

H3 (Muscle car pan kit) Hang about 1 1/2 inches below k member.. not too bad as thats about how far headers will hang. Is pretty cheap (150 for kit ~)

CTSV pan.. only hangs down about 1/2 inch past k member. Uses 5.3 windage tray, so all I need is pickup and pan.. but those two parts are extremely pricey.. (300$!)

I'm not looking to do a billion dollar setup.. car is just a fun cruiser with a main concern of reliablilty and driveability.

Look into the champ sheetmetal pan. Oil filter is in stock location. I think it was 300 bux total. fits my 87 gn nicely, and also was fitted on a 67 camaro and fit fine.

Wow the CTSV look like it's hanging at least 2 inch. If you have an F-body then send it to S/P performance and they mod it and send it back to you. $250

The mounts and the position will be the other variable..

Per this thread I Used John Bs mounts and CTS-V Pan

https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...-v-john-b.html

Here is another thread in which I psoted the website for the CTS-V pan and I also listed the part numbers.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...l#post14806670

At the time I purchased the Pan and other necessary parts shipped to my door was 144 bucks.

Not certain what it is now as i dont know if anybody inquired on the info I posted.

That is definitely not the cts pan. Almost certain it is the h3 pan. Which I wouldn't waste my money on (again). Just buck up and go with the cts pan, I wish I had.

It all depends on your mounts. The cts-v pan will not work with the BRP mounts in the holes already drilled. Adapter plates with the clamshells may be different. The BRP mounts raise the engine up quite a bit, making the musclecar pan work very well. The BRP longtubes hang lower than the pan.

I was all set to go with the GM Muscle Pan kit and you had to post this!!!

That pan looks VERY nice! Just trying to justify 2X the money!

What oil pan gasket are you guys using with the Champ?

Thanks

Don't look at it as twice the money look at it as done right the first. I am gonna end up spending over $450 on my pan now since I went the lh8 (muscle car pan) route first.

Done deal then Im ordering one today.

I just put the Moroso TBSS pan on mine. That thing is a work of ART. just dont want to spend that kind of coin on something my Son is going to drive someday.

That Champ pan is a good price. Was just trying to be less over the top on this car... No one will see it anyway.

Mine will be going on a ls2 into a 87 Monte Carlo SS.

Champ pan uses stock gasket. you buy their pickup, and use the factory location oil filter. Fits like an F body pan but with more clearance and has baffling etc. Good value for the money. I will get pictures sometime soon.
