I have an 09 5.3 lmg I am outing in a 69 nova and I want to reuse my transmission due to money issues. My problem is I just bought a flywheel for the motor and now my bellhousing doesn't fit over the flywheel. I remove te starter and tried again with no luck. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks for the info the flywheel info will help but my problem is the bellhousing is too small for the fly wheel and I know the flywheel is right because the starter matches up. I don't think it will make a difference but the bellhousing is from a 6 cyl. Thanks
your old 6 cyl is normally a 158t Flywheel and the Gen III/IV is a 168t .. The old 6 cyl bellhousing will not fit over the 168t flywheel.. but I am assuming here. cause you have not stated specific information on what came from where..
Since you say flywheel and not flexplate, I'm assuming manual trans (3 speed muncie/saginaw with 10 spline input). The 168 tooth LS flywheel will need a 621 BBC bell housing or the Keisler version with the extra LS bolt hole.

OP, there are at least 15 of the 621 bellhousings on ebay right now.

I know this is way old. But is there any luck or any info that can be given. I am in the middle of this same swap....
Another item to check is test fit the bell housing on the block - my 5.3 had some bolt heads on the cam cover sit too proud and not allow the bell to fully seat.
