Default Lokar Trans Dipstick ?

When you installed your Lokar trans dipstick, were you able to run it through the tab above the hole or did you cut that tab/ear off?
thanks

I hate mine with a passion.

It is absolute junk. I would gladly trade it for a stock dipstick now that I know a stock one would fit.

The soft plastic dipstick won't ever go back in without jamming the first 3 tries, it takes days to fill the trans with fluid because a decent size funnel won't fit, and the thing is an intense pain in the *** to get in and out of the trans case because of the extra large nut style base which I don't really get since it's held in by o-rings anyway.

They must have updated the dipstick, mine is a wire rope with a flat piece of steel at the end.

So does it fit through that tab/ear or do I need to cut it off? I've already ordered mine so I'll have to give it a shot. Didn't know a stock dipstick would work. What year and model?
thanks

First i ordered a trans dipstick from Monster transmission, it worked fine because i stabbed the engine and trans together with the dipstick already installed. but when i rebuild the trans and went to bolt it back in i couldnt get the old dipstick to fit between the firewall and engine.

I dont recall having any ear or tap issues, it is a very tight fit. i used right stuff and a 4ft pipe to drive it into place.

Must have, mine is definitely a piece of soft gray plastic and is almost useless.

I also installed the Lokar transmission dipstick for the 4L60E with no problems. I did, however, have to turn the "flat face" portion of the assembly so that it faced towards the transmission; it would not fit any other way. Also, make sure the dipstick is for the 4L60E as there are a number of different model numbers for various transmissions.

Hope this is helpful...

My trans is a 4l65 and I ordered it for that trans so things should be good. Hopefully I get the newer design.

I've used the Lokar trans dipstick on four LS/4L60E transmissions. The first one was plastic and not great.

Next three had the metal dip stick. No problems. Yes the fill tube is slow. The "top" part of the fill unsrews and you can put on any type of mounting tab.

I've had no leaks.
