Just reused the stock LS1 power steering pump/lines to the 1978 p/s rack.

Hey man I love this car. I got a 84 with a LQ4 but I haven't dropped it in. I have motor mounts, fly wheel spacer (for 700r), and those same hedman headers you got. Any thing else u think im goin to run into while doin this swap?

Thanks man!

You will likely need a different oil pan and/or need to notch the crossmember. Once you get the electrical stuff sorted out, you will need someone to tune the "VATS" out of the ECM so it will start without a transponder key.

Aside from that, the rest will be normal engine swap stuff you will have to check, like trans cross member, exhaust, radiator with dual electric fans etc.

Car should move out nicely with a LQ4.

I do not recall Anothony having to do any fabbing to get them to fit, he may have put a dimple or something, but nothing drastic on my particular Caprice.

His name on here and on the Impala SS forum is: aknovaman

This my 72' Impala all original 64k miles w/ 400sb. I have a lq9 (05' Esky) I picked up with trans, harness, computer, etc w/43k miles for $1500. I'm really think about putting it in my impala. My 92' s-10 motor just bite the dust, so I'm thinking put the 400sb in the s-10 and put the lq9 in the Impala.

If I go that route I will definitely go l92/ls3 combo, cam, and 90mm TB. I found a local guy who does LS swaps in older trucks (because of the engine bay space), but he said he would do mine because it has a lot of room to work.

I have a few questions
Did you change any brackets/front Accessories for clearance. Did you have any clearance issues?

Use f body drive acessories. Alternator and pass header are close to frame.

Aknovaman is the one who takes care of my LSX swap needs and questions, and the person responsible for completing my LQ9 swap.

Aknovaman is correct, we used F-Body accessories and the particular headman headers (4th Gen F-Body) we used were close on the pass side.

Aknovaman custom fabbed his own for the car. I had the "Street and Performance" ones on my previous LS1 swap, but was not a fan.

Anything that is "universal" fit normally doesn't fit perfect and it uses tiny itty-bitty allen keys to fasten, which is about the worst size/type fastner available in my opinion since they allllways strip out after the first use.

Great to see ya still in the game, Henry! I always loved that car over on the issf, but I haven't been there in years. Glad I stumbled on this!

Tell Anthony that Crovo says hello!

I am not sure of MPG, but with my heavy tank and having a Huge stall converter and no overdrive, I would imagine I am getting in the verry low teens or so, but I have heard of several swaps getting well into the 20's without much work.

Thank you Crovo, I was on the local Impala forum but it closed and the nation wide Impala SS forum is still around but its mostly used for showing off donks, custom interiors with large stereo's and lowriders so I don't get on there much anymore.

Seems like LS1Tech is much more performance orientated, so there have been more and more big car swaps popping up on here.

Nice Wagon btw!
