I'm having the same problem identifying what engine/trans combo I have. I was told it is a 5.3L out of a 2007 tahoe. Looks to have a 6L80/90 trans so I'm not sure if he is correct. The trans sticker says OCAA and the vin stamp on the bell housing says 0GX20101AF0193 Is anyone able to run the history report and tell me what vehicle and mileage? Thx, I will be shoe horning it into a 1970 chevelle Malibu.

6L80E was not available in the Tahoe until 09. The "0" in OCAA is a 2010 model year code.

Thx for the info! I wish I could now verify the motor was a 5.3L, and check it's service history. Whatever it was out of was 2wd

If it originally came mated to the transmission, it would have to be a 5.3, 6.0, or 6.2 as you cannot get a 4.8 with the 6l80e. The block of the 5.3 will have "4.8/5.3" cast into it. You can't tell the difference from the 4.8 externally.

Not sure if this was mentioned before but the 6L80 trans is a "C" variant and the 6L90 is a "D" variant.... hence the CAA or whatever... (the C or the D in the number indicated model)...

If you need specific info on your model # etc.. I can get you what you need... let me know....

Thx,

If it still has the oem headgasket on it there will be a little tab that sticks out the side and it will say either 4.8 or 5.3

Must not have seen my last post.... you cant tell anything about mileage or anything about the car from the info on the trans.... vin numbers are easy to find on cars..... unless you get the Vin #.... you are not going to get any info... or anything worthwhile.... (its not up by the windshield in front of the driver at the bas of the windshield??? )

Yes I read your post. If the motor was still in the truck I wouldnt be trying to find out the mileage and what it came out of. The etched number (Cag231287) on both the motor and trans, its a partial VIN which and be decoded by the dealer. I have a service manager looking into it but nothing back yet. He will be able look at the service history to tell me the mileage and date of last service.

Old post, but did you ever resolve the VIN number on your 6L80? If so where did you find it? Thanks
