anything flowmaster id throw in the trash! they make sound... thats it. buddie of mine picked up 60 hp on his novi 2011 5.0 mustang from cutting his flowmasters off..... another friend of mine made 360ish hp on his gto and couldnt figure out why it was down on power... cut the flowmasters off it had on it and went to 408... so id ditch the flowmaster for a maganflow/borla/hooker etc..... or install a cutout and keep the flowjunk..

As a drag car FLowmasters never did me wrong. But as a street car i hate these things, at first start up in the morning i wake the neighbors, but then at idle its ok. when i floor it it sounds like a transformer and at highway speeds the droan will make you deaf.

I cant wait to pull these things off my car. I was thinking of using some cheap summit mufflers until i throw my turbo on.

I like the deep tone at idle, i think it's the volume I don't like. Sounds kinda truckish. I want a powerful, hi-performance sound with less volume. Is that possible?

Don't think so.
Less sound = less performance basically, this is why I went with cutouts before the cats and stock exhaust out the back. You might not want stock exhaust sound, but you get the idea.

How durable are electric cutouts? I have heard of some not being able to open after a while due to the heat cycles.
