Nice, I wish GM would've done that with the s10's and 8.5" rear

I was reading online today, and found out the 8.8" axle tubes are tapered. When they get cut down, how would that affect the reassembly? I guess they are 3.25" in dia at the centersection and go down to 2.75".

79-93 mustang 8.8= 59 inches wheel to wheel
94-98 mustang 8.8= 60 and a half inches wheel to wheel
99-04 mustang 8.8= 62 inches wheel to wheel

If you look close at the DR side tube, you can see where mine was cut, about 3" inside the outer flange. You can also see the swedge on both tubes, just inside the perches. This axle had ~ 3" cut from the DR side tube and uses two identical PASS side axles which not only narrows it to a more suitable width, but also centers the pinion shaft.
