what rear axle you planning on running? i dont think the stock 6.38" would like that kinda power for long. the 7.5" out of a mid '80s celica supra can be made to fit easily (just have to extend the panhard rod around 3/4") but im not thinking it would hold up either. best bet would be to have a ford 8.8 narrowed and tab'd to fit the factory 4 link. but then it would be a different lug patern then the front. and i like the coupes better than the hatch's they are lighter and a stiffer chassis. good luck on your build.

Lsxchevelle thank you alot for the hookup. I was going to text you that but I lost your number when my phone decided it wanted to die lol. But thank you alot. Update on the build I have everything I need to start the fab work but I need to wait for my roommate to finish his fab work on his turbo install so I can use the garage in this rainy state. About the axle I'm using a 8.8 from a t-bird turbo coup with an LSD. I may narrow it but I may just run it with a wide body in the rear with some wide tires. It is already set up for 4x114 already and I dont know if I am going to run the stock style mounts for the axle or convert it to something alittle more effective. I am planing on starting on the fab work at the end of next month.

Keeping the VVT is really going to cut into the space you have. I ran a VVT L92 in my 97 240SX. I loved it but my water pump snout was about 1/4" from my radiator. I had to cut a hole in the radiator shroud. Without the VVT I could have had 1.5 more clearance if I ran the Vette accessories. It made it tough to find cooling fans thin enough and small enough to fit but with enough flow to keep the engine cool in Summer. Just something to think about.

Motor isn't in the car yet. I've been monopolizing the garage space with my trans am turbo install.

sadly to say no updates yet, big reason is my roommate is in the process of something bigger and faster with his turbo install that's been occupying the garage so i have been focusing on smaller things on my miata build. I am hoping sortly after Ian finishes his turbo install i will be able to start making the mounts for the engine/driveline however i am still in need of a few parts if anyone knows anyone with wiring harness/ecu and dbw TB/gas peddle assembly that would work with vvt that they would sell that would help alot. I am also in need of a clutch/flywheel and wp, alt and alt bracket that would work with the new Camaro vvt wp however all of that can wait tell i get the engine in the car. I must say the driver side exhaust will be interesting to work around. Once work resumes i will update everything but i may add some pic's soon.

This was my 1st car in high school. I learned to drift it before the word was invented

Anytime it rained my buddies would call each other and go to the big parking lot behind the furniture store in my town. We had mid 70's wagons with 455's getting all crazy too plus a 79 Mazda GLC hahaha. Gas was under $1/gallon
