BMW E46 converted to LS1 - Wich gearbox ? I´m converting my M3 into a drift car with a LS1 5.7 L.
I have searched high and low but cant figure out wich gearbox i should go for.
Must be manual. Preferred dogbox.
Any input are welcome.
Engine should hit 500 hp and I want it to be as reliable as possible.

email me if you want the contact for where mine came from. My setup is a GForce GSR trans with magnesium case, steel bellhousing, triple disc clutch/flywheel (14lbs), and starter were about $5K. The trans was used and was from a Nascar team. The bellhousing weighs only a little less than the transmission! Or so it feels like

You only need to use the clutch when you start out in 1st. Upshifts require only coming off the throttle a slight amount... and one only needs it on downshifts so you don't lock up the rear tires going into a lower gear at speed. it shifts FAST. It also is whiney, noisy, and not a street transmission by any means.

i have a G-Force GSR-4 in my S14 ! I paid around 4k$ for the transmission used from a nascar team too !!!

you could go with the GF4A , its cheaper but ... its less compact bc of those side linkage
if you want to use in the street i would go with : Texas Drivetrain Performance & there t-56 stage 2 ... Stew is in love with is set-up !!!

Finally some stuff came in that I've been waiting for so I can *hopefully* get the car back on the ground and driving again for next weekends Fabricated Motorsports event (pro-am rd. 3)
I don't want to sound like some sort of gimmicky sales ad, but I had been searching long and hard for a good place to have my T56 rebuilt. I've heard bad things about a lot of different companies and, since transmission breaks can no longer be what prevent me from driving, I had to make sure it was done right. Oddly enough I was talking to a buddy of mine from up north and he referred me to Jason from Texas Drivetrain Performance. I spoke with Jason about some of my options for this particular application, T101a, glorified and beefed up grandpa T10, magnum 6060, facing the gears in my box, etc. We both agreed that the T56 had another shot left in it so we did a full stage 2 along with triple cone synchros and replacing all the gears I banged up, 1-4 looked like a crime scene. Anyways, got it back with a very quick turn around time (the only delay was him finding a C5 core for the triple cones) and its ready to rock!
