Question MAF Harness Extension (how to?)

I just discovered the harness for my LS2 5 pin MAF needs to be longer. I can't find anyone that offers an extension harness, so it looks like I will need to splice and add some additional wire to increase the length.

I'm very relunctant to cut into my new harness without knowing the potential negative consequences (if any) of doing so? Obviously, I know I will need to make sure the splice is done properly and be sealed to protect against the elements, but are there any other issues or precautions I need to be aware of? Any suggestions other than cutting the existing harness?

Much thanks...

Nothing to be afraid of. Just cut and solder.

I have to do the same thing with mine. While mine reaches the MAF I don't like its routing because its too short. When I go to do the extension I plan on depining the MAF connector, adding my extension, and then crimping on new ends to repin the connector. I am going to do it this way so that there is only 1 splice in each wire and not 2 like there would be if you left the MAF plug connected and simply added wire in the middle.

If the cables for the MAF aren't shielded you should be fine, I just don't know if they are myself as I used the stock routing for my swap. If they are shielded, just get another shielded wire and make an extension.

I believe that the MAF you have uses a flat 5 pin GT150 connector.(might be a metri pack depending on year) If you can find a source what will sell the connector in low quantity cheap enough you could build your own adapter harness.

I have the parts at work to build you one if you can't find one for a reasonable price or don't want to make it yourself.

Stagger your cuts so the splices aren't all in the same place, so the harness doesn't look like a snake that swallowed a small child...

Or use a truck harness, the MAF leg is like 15 feet long.

I have never thought of this and have hated my solder joints being so bulky. Will be using this for now on, thank you.

They do sale harness extensions, if you prefer not to cut and splice. I purchased one from a website where you could choose various lengths. Here's a link to one on ebay (I can't remember who I purchased mine through).http://www.ebay.com/itm/GM-5-Wire-MA...item43a3740a9f

Long enough to reach your MAF sensor.

I take it this is a custom harness and not a stock one?

The wires for the Truck MAF are long enough to mount the MAF sensor in the trunk.

THis thread is just about two weeks shy of being 5 years old, I'm pretty sure the OP has finished it by now!

Default Adding supercharger

I'm adding a 2010 ctsv supercharger to my 2007 ctsv ls2. Just poking around to see what all I have to do and came across this thread. I know it's old but it wasn't specific on the length anyone had to add for the swap...just wondering if anyone knew so I could get this harness off ebay before I start this project. Thanks
