Default VSS and Low Oil Level Switch Delete Question

I am working on wiring my first engine in my brother tube buggy and am using information that has been provided on LT1swap.com. This info is very helpful and straight foward, but I have a few questions. It never mentioned me being able to remove the VSS sensors (my harness is from a '99 4wd 4L80E truck) so I have two sensors and they route back to C2 connections 20, 21, 22, and 23. Since this is an offroad buggy and will not have a speedometer, I assume I can delete them. Is this correct? By the way I am using a turbo 400.

Also LT1swap.com recommended removing C1 pin 70 (Low Oil Level Switch). This sounds like a good idea to me since the ride will be off camber a lot on the trails, but I was somewhat skeptical about removing it. This wasn't a typo was it? Thanks for any help.

The PCM still needs to know if you're moving/accelerating. Keep the VSS.

Low oil switch is useless as far as the PCM is concerned. Go ahead and delete it.

Ok, I guess I should keep both VSS sensors? Since I am running a turbo 400 trans will I just leave the plugs open? If I can just leave the plugs open, how would this be different than just pinning them out?

Sounds good on the oil level switch.

Thanks for the help.

I'm assuming your th400 wikk have a mechanical speedo output. Check out dakota digital for a mechanical vss.

The Dakota Digital SEN-4160 threads on the cable speedo output of most any GM trans or transfer case. This is a pass through style, and still lets you run a cable up to the speedometer after that. This sensor produces 8 pulses per revolution of the speedo cable. For the PCM to recognize vehicle speed, the PCM must be programmed with a speed pulse per revolution set to around 3 to 3.5 depending on your drive/driven gears in the tail housing. If this is not done, you might be lucky for the PCM to read 2-3 MPH if you are flat out. The stock sensor outputs 80,000 to 100,000 pulse/mile, where this one is going to generate 8000.

Default So regardless using a non electronic trans requires a vss? I removed that wire!

So I’m running a 700r4 and still will need the vss I’m understanding. I removed the wire this evening can put it back but what’s involved?
