Thanks, Unfortunately I won't get to enjoy it for myself since I'm building it for someone else. Oh well... such is life.

Got everything together, went to start it and it shut right off. Ended up taking a trip to the tuner to have the PCM flashed, thought it was VATS. Turned out to be that the owner of the truck didn't tell the tuner that it was going to be DBC and not DBW. Starts up and runs now, I just have to finish up a little wiring and then I'm done. Will post more pics and a vid when I get a chance.

Were you able to reuse the factory radiator with the new motor?

I believe you need to use a 99 or newer Or at least I did for my 95 2wd 2003 6.0l 4l80e swap

How would you set up the fuel system on a truck like this if you wanted to use an in tank pump? Asking because i have a gm tbi vehicle i would like to swap out for a 5.3. Want to know if I can modify the two fuel lines that currently run to the engine and what to do about the fuel pump.

Most folks replace the in tank pump with a model that will provide proper PSI. On one swap I left the TBI in tank in place and mounted a walbro 255 along the frame rail.

I have a 1992 2wd and i used the stock radiator and it works great. You just need to get the hoses for a 1999-2006 truck.

Wow.... didn't see that this thread was brought back from the dead... lol... but I'll answer any questions...

Fuel system was the stock tank with an upgraded pump using both lines (Supply and Return) all the way to the front, then Fuel Pressure Regulator at the fuel rail to Regulate Pressure. You CAN use a Corvette Fuel Filter which will regulate the pressure and then use a returnless style Fuel Rail which is cleaner IMO.

Radiator was a the stock radiator with the NBS radiator hoses.

@Ryan (KingC8r) I'm getting ready to do this swap to my 89 Blazer... I love the Old Square Bodies too...

Great write up, and great pics I tend to forget about the pics until its too late.
These repowers are a big job if you have never done this sort of thing, but well worth it in the long run. I am glad I did my 1978 LS1 swap.
You people are lucky that you have so much in parts, and help for these jobs.
Its only forums like this that help us over here, and a lot of trial and error, and swearing
