This thing looks like it will be a blast. I've been wanting to do an Astro for quite awhile now, but this is a whole different animal. Can't wait to see this one done. MAKE SURE YOU GET VIDS!

I was impatient with the paint. I should have boxed the plates completely. Couldn't get in to clean the paint away so I put a gusset on the side.
Comp Cam pushrods, MLS head gaskets and ARP bolts. Need to pick up new knock sensors before I can install the intake mani. Engine bay is getting very cozy. I know about the notch, these heads don't have them.
Might end up building new exhaust headers, clearance is a bit tight on the torsion bar.
EGR is going to be interesting.

No, buddy of mine mentioned that one. Tried it and the two bolts on either side are offset from center, one .125" up and the other .125" down so when you do flip it the holes are about a quarter inch out.

Not dead, just delayed.
Still need to splice the engine harness with the chassis harness and mount the PCM and fuse block.
Took the alt/PS bracket to the band saw to make spacers for the new alt bracket.
Exhaust still in progress.

Needs a P/S bracket, couple idlers and a giant belt
Harnesses are spliced, still need to wire in the OBDII diagnostic connector
Mounted a couple mitsu senders to use the factory gauges
Modified the shifter detent pattern to match the 4L60E
Put the shortened propshaft in last night

Double check that VATS is turned off. That happened to us when we were trying to start my car for the first time. It had spark and ran off of starting spray, but would die just like that after every crank. Although it sounds like you're getting at least a little fuel, while we weren't, so it may be something else.

I wasn't aware of this VATS deal til you mentioned it, thanks! Did some homework and you're probably right. I'll have to get my hands on a PCM editor and find out.

had one of these vans for about 10 years, the best minivan of all time as ugly as it is 
our rusted out and literally had it towed away by the junkyard and it was still running. they look awkward and ugly but fit full sheets of plywood/drywall inside. congrats for doing this build, this is just awesome.
