I pretty much knew that the 3 jaw wouldn't work, but it was my only option so I gave it shot and it broke the pulley, like I knew it would.

That pulley is Dorman 300-130, which measures 5-25/32 = 5.781", which wont clear my steering box. Part of my issue I think is that my engine sits at a ~2* angle, which drives the front of the motor down. I wanted to get the tail of the T56 as high as possible as the thing is real long. I need a pulley around a 5.5" dia.

The Ford pulley is only 5.5" diameter, just measured it. Solid steel too.

Spacemanspif which one, Ford: E8UA-3d673-BA?

Are you measuring from the outermost OD or the from the part that the belt rides on?

The Ford one: E8UA-3d673-BA...Pic attached, its all metal.

The plastic GM: 10166336 is just a hair smaller than the Ford one. If you want to drive out here I'll give them both to you for $15 so you can check them and supply the forum with some good fitment numbers and pics. Or I can ship them if you want to pay the freight.

Nothing yet, been working on the turbo piping. But I need to get a pulley on there - thanks for bringing this back up.

Spaceman - looks like the ID of that hole is like 11/16" would you say? My shaft is .750 on the pump, looks like it wont work???

Any other metal pulley suggestions that are around 5.5" or less, .750 ID?

OK, big update.

I couldnt wait, so I went out and bought 3 pullies today:
300-010
300-123
300-201

As mentioned, the metal 300-010 that I was excited about has too small an ID to fit the .750 pump shaft. Too bad.

The 123 and the 201 are fairly similar, exept the 201 has a longer snout, and its apprx 2x as thick as the 123, so I used the 201. It had to be pushed all the way on till it hit the pump, and I pulled it back slightly. I cut some of the pump shaft off so I can use my puller. Dont care about the pump, can get them real cheap, and I can use the puller now. I swapped out the one power steering bolt for a header bolt, and ground the head down. There apprx 3/16"
clearance, and since the motor torques up and away from the bolt, I should be good. Only thing that concerns me is that if the belts sorta rides off the pulley during high rpm operation, it may contact the bolt head. Probably wont, but who knows. I'd like to swap it out for a button head screw in the future. I'm using a 92.3" belt vs the 93" factory belt, worked perfect. A 91" belt was a little too short.

You can see how fragile these pullies are, you can't really press on the body of it or you'll end up with a broken pulley at some point. Only thing that might bite me in the azz is that I had to stick a screwdriver through one of the pulley holes to hold it from rotating while using the install tool. Should be OK. If I can get a confirmed metal pulley I'll swap it out.

The 2 black marks lined-up would be the fully "stretched" position of the belt, you can see there's plenty of adjust range here

Special alignment tool:

Thanks to all for the help!!!

Just measured the diameter for the shaft of the Ford pulley using a caliper...0.75 is what the dial read...it only goes to 2 decimal places...

I just skimmed the thread so excuse me if I'm duplicating info. I used a 14100597 and I think it was about 5.5". It came off of a 87 s10 with a 2.8 if I'm not mistaken.
