Don't forget, some LS2s had a 24x tooth reluctor wheel while others had the 58x. Make sure the harness and ECU you get are for the 24x.

I am going to get a full custom harness made by chasebays. But yes you are right. I just couldnt find any info on using ls2 knock sensors with the older ecu. So I was just planning on using an E40 ecu from an 05 GTO thats set up for the 24x reluctor. I might hit you up on the extra wiring stuff especially with the ecu so I know what is going on with the wiring.

Yeah about 15% of 01 fbodies had LS6 blocks. I was as surprised as you. When I was reading up on the blocks I just checked it for ***** and giggles and it was labeled with the LS6 casting numbers. Anyways, I would say the block cleaned up nice.

Let me know if you need any of the swap parts for this swap. I know you have already talked to logan Brew_haha on my350z and g35 driver. We carry sikky, fueled racing and all of the chasebays wiring harnesses, fuel line kits, and power steering kits.

Great looking build by the way glad to see more of these popping up.

It went in so good!!

Rear Seal and Rear Cover are in!!

I was interrupted by the mail man. He had a present for me!! Timing chain damper came in!!

Cam retainer plate is in and I drilled and tapped the block for the new timing chain damper!!

Cam timing mocked up. Dot to dot. Pretty simple.

Timing gear, C5R chain, and timing chain damper installed!!

All done for today. Short block is almost done!! Just need an oil pump and front cover.

I am going with 243 heads as of right now. I am waiting on some carbide burrs to do some light port and polishing on.

Thanks!! I totally agree. Have always wanted to build a motor. Maybe more now since I have all the tools

I also need some opinions on colors for the heads and valve covers. I am torn between colors cast iron and aluminized. I did a color swatch for the cast iron and will do the aluminized tonight and post it tomorrow for input.

I thought the ls2 intakes had the rectangle ports and the 243 ls6 heads are still the cathedral port heads... Am I wrong?

Yeah, I have since sold my old G35 parts and have decided porting is a bitch and I dont want to screw it up cuz I dont have a flow bench. I have decided to go with sending my 243 heads to Advanced Induction.

LS2 intake and LS2 heads are interchangeable and they are still cathedral ports LS3-LS7 are the rectangle ports.

I also sold the G and bought a new 2012 Ram 4x4. Back to driving a V8 and the RamBox bed is the ****!! I really needed a parts getter. So Project G35 is done but I am still continuing with the build. I am now starting to look for a mid 60s kit car for an LS swap or factory five kit car!!

Also, I found a sweet deal on a busted T56!! The syncros between 2-3 are gone. I am now procuring parts for a viper T56 spec build.

It was a tough choice, but I needed something reliable in the midterm. And every time I talked my old man, he kept making fun of me for wanting to swap a American motor into a Japanese car. So now I am on the hunt for a new chassis.
