I also have the ecm that came outa the truck the motor came out of. Though that egr valve wont be on it with my intake. And the other truck was drive by cable. Mine is drive by wire. But it can be programmed right?

You can keep you S10 and make it 2wd it you want. Just remove transfer case and leave front shaft off. Buy a 2wd trans or rebuild and convert your 4l60 to 2wd.
Also you could build the 4.8 to put into the s10. Bore to 3.9'' add 5.3L crank and 243/799 heads and flat tops. Be a iron block LS1/6.

doesnt the front differential that gets in the way of the LS oil pan also serve as a frame crossmember? see i thought about doing that and just leave the outer cv knuckles bolted through the hubs to keep them together. but i was worried about twisting the frame with the front diff out. s10's dont exactly have a strong frame. i twisted the frame in my 94 sonoma i used to have.

well im def gonna put it in the silverado. i might get myself another lq4 in the near future for the s10 since you guys want to see it or maybe a 5.3. but my main mode of transportation is halfway down at the moment so it leaves me with little to work with. (im down to 7 mpg with smoke boiling from bank 1)
i was wondering. yesterday i had a 4.8 express van come into the shop wanting plugs and wires because of a missfire. it only had 50k miles on it but i put some delco iridium plugs and delco wires on it regardless because he wanted a "tune-up". it only ran bad when in closed loop and only at idle. it came back in a few mins after leaving the shop doing the same thing. i suspected a bad coil so i hooked up my snapon solus and brought up a datastream and the counter for #6 was going crazy on missfire. i grabbed a coil from my lq4 and it didnt help so i compression tested it and #6 had 60LB of compression and #8 had 160 pounds and #6 had 155-160 pounds. went into sensor data and the heater circuit b2 s1 had 0.00ma.
so i replaced it and it ran fine. but im thinking it will be back with a missfire in a few days/weeks.
is there a problem with the head gaskets and or heads on 4.8L's?
my best guess is the head gasket blew or its got a cracked head or something and all the raw gas and heat burned out the heater circuit of the o2 sensor. i dont know yet. anyone know? also here are a couple pics of my lq4 in a sec...

Yeah the 4.8/5.3 have same heads so they crack too as indicated by your truck. Could be a head crack on the van.
As for the 6.0L be sure to use your 4.8 intake don't try to just swap TB. Also you can use the LQ4 coil packs plugs should be the same.
Also that LQ4 has an EGR valve so you need to run the 4.8L exaust manifold on the pass side or just make a block off plate.
I would just spring for some cheap long tubes while you have the motor out!!!

got it in. and running, took bout 5 hours total.
so the 6.0 is ALOT more powerful. but i havnt gotten the ecm programmed yet. when i first cranked it up it knocked it *** off and ran like crap. running good now. just have a very faint lifter tap. check engine light stayed off for about 2 hours of running. gas needle still hasnt hardly moved. my 4.8 was down to about 8mpg
MIL light popped on as i was pulling up at home, havnt checked it yet.
it hesitates badly on low rpm under a load, i figure its running too lean because i havnt had the ecm programmed yet.
took the pics with my cell phone since i didnt do the s10 instead.
i guess ill build the 4.8 and put it in the s10.
why does my 4.8L block say 4.8 5.3 on it?
