Default obd2 issues...

okay so i got an 95 camaro a4 with a swapped 01 ls1 and 4l60e trans... the obd2 will not read off to the code reader... also was suppost to get a hp tune on the car and would not communicate to the computer for the tune.. the is power going to the obd2 on 2 different prongs.. anybody got any experience with obd2 not communitcating with the code reader or the laptop? also gauges have not worked since the got the car on the road... i think it may be a related problem... i apperciate any help.. thanks..

im prolly the wrong one to answer this but it usually means the ecm is bad if all the wiring and fuse are good.

Remember that 95 Camaro uses an OBDII Connector but is actually OBDI.

Did you start with the OBD1 connector or OBD2? OBD1 will have a tan wire that is the datalink, a white/blk that you wont need with the ls1 and two black/white wires...one is a ground the other is for the security system. The OBD2 connector needs a constant 12v to the orange wire, the purple wire is the data and will need to be soldered to the tan wire on the OBD1, and two grounds that are black/white that need soldered to the current ground.

If you already have an OBD2 connector, check to make sure that you are getting a constant 12v at the plug. Also check that your grounds are grounded and that the datalink is connected to the pcm.

nothing of the 95 harness is left in the car.. the obd2 port was changed from factory when swap was done.. i had swapped a 01 ls1 interior harness into the car that came with the current obd2 port.. i really apperciate the answers guys.. ill look into it.. thanks again..

Did You look at the pins in the female connector under dash ,,,,,,,I've seen them with a pin or 2 pushed maybe 3/16" or so in ,,,,,,,,n not making connection ? Good luck

anybody happen to know the route that the purple data link wire goes to the ecm? thru any other plugs and the round about locations of the plugs if any?

Check under the passenger side dash. I believe they are in c101 and c102. There should be two plugs underneath the hvac system leading out the firewall.

i got it.... the is a ground for the obd2 to the lighter in the dash.. did have the lighter plugged in... plugged it and and the code reader communicated with the ecm... thanks for all the help...
